Hotel Phénix is exactly what you'd hope from a 2 star hotel a block from Place des Étoiles and l'Arc de Triomphe. Accommodations are modest, somewhat dated in places, but well-cared-for and signs of good attention to the physical state of the property. For instance, in my room, there appeared to be tile work that could have been within the last 3-5 years. Internet functioned well. Staff were all friendly and helpful. There are so many restaurants and pastry shops in the neighborhood I didn't bother with the breakfast, but it was a reasonable 8 EUR. My only proper dislike was the old fashioned door key (instead of a card scanner) and that the door didn't automatically lock. It's a minor complaint. But this was one thing that would have been preferable.

The rooms are a bit small (depending on which one you get) and old but they are clean and comfortable. It is one block from arc de triomphe and close to trains. It is a 2.5 km walk to Eiffel Tower which took us about 30 min.
