Alaskans Loved Kona Palace

Kona Palace was the biggest treat of our trip to Big Island. The home is gorgeous- very clean and filled with art, antiques and beautiful stained glass. The view of Kaalakakua Bay is unsurpassed—with homemade hot breakfast served and cooked by the host. They also have worked hard to cultivate gorgeous landscaping- flowering bushes and palms. We were warmly welcomed and will return.

Kona Palace Get-Away

We loved our stay at the Kona Palace. The house is well maintained and beautifully furnished. Rebecca and her husband her very warm and welcoming. The breakfasts prepared by Rebecca each morning are delicious and feature fruits, as well as jams and preservers, all of from their own garden. We were introduced to the "soursop" fruit dueing our stay therem which was very tasty. The terracew where breakfast is served offers a breathtaking view of Kealekekua Bay. This is such a quiet and peaceful area, a real departure from the hustle and bustle of Kailua-Kona. There are a few local restaurants as well as local beaches and snorkeling spots. If you want to truly get away from it all, this is the place! We thorougly enjoyed out stay at Kona Palace and look forward to returning.

The host was very good. She ensured that we made it to the property despite the many hiccups we had encountered. Also really enjoyed the breakfast that was cooked, it was very good whilst being healthy. Only downside was just the directions to getting to the property. She explained in a decent amount of detail on how to find property but since I arrived and it was dark it made it difficult visually so maybe an update to the directions for those who arrive late, and so that directions are fitting for all car types since my rental was low it caused a slight issue at first and I had to call her in order to get guidance. She answered immediately and helped navigate that situation very quickly. All in all I would stay here again.

Our hosts were great! Rebecca and Keith were friendly and helpful, offering many insights on the area we stayed in, in terms of places to eat and some local history, as well. Rebecca made some wonderful and healthy breakfasts, using local ingredients (beautiful fruits!) and offering choices of meat or plant-based main items. We were their only guests at the time, so we enjoyed quiet and peaceful evenings there. The view off the deck and lanai is phenomenal, with a full 180 degree view of the ocean below. We greatly enjoyed our three nights at the Kona Palace and would stay there again. Many thanks! Terri and Bill

Very nice place to stay. We have never been to Hawaii before and this was our first trip there. Room was extremely comfortable, breakfast was amazing. Host was very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend staying here. The view is impeccable, it is a bit a way from everything but so worth it. I will definitely stay here again.

2/10 Poor

Room was described as having a refrigerator, microwave and furnished lanai. There was no refrigerator or microwave and the lanai was shared with other guests. When we informed owners that we were not pleased with the accommodations, I was told that if we left we would get a full refund. I returned to the room to contact Expedia about our change of plans. They contacted Rebecca, who stated I'd be billed for one night, even though we were leaving and were told that a full refund would be issued. We had booked it for 3 nights, originally. My wife went to speak with Rebecca, the owner, to explain our dissatisfaction and to state that her husband had told me that I'd receive a full refund. Rebecca was rude and disrespectful to my wife. She had been present when her husband told me I'd receive a full refund if we left. Her dishonesty and rudeness was very disturbing! Please DO NOT PLAN TO STAY at this B&B!

2/10 Poor

I wasn't planning on posting any review but the last interaction with this property owner was unpleasant and needs action. She offered to refund some of our payment in return for 5 stars review which make me question all their previous misleading ones. Other disturbing encounter, she kept talking and preaching about her religion which mede me and my family uncomfortable. I would like to send her a public message that our people (unlike hers) do not sell or rent our opinions for any amount of money. It is worth to mention that we booked 4 nights and end up staying only one night (without refund) because of the situation in that house. The room and bed were so small and my son had to spend his night sleeping on a uncomfortable folding COT.

What a special, peaceful place this is. Rebecca went out of her way to make my stay as pleasant as possible, pointing out many nice restaurants close by. My favorite was Shaka Tacoz by far. The grounds of the property are covered with a lush and verdant collection of interesting plants that fascinated me for evening walks in the garden or up the driveway. The driveway is easy to manage once you realize there is a flat spot at the top that allows you to safely enter traffic on the main road. The room I stayed in was pleasantly, though not fancily apportioned, and was more than adequate for my stay, which included working nearby. I love the location, being away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy areas, though they are close by if you need to access them. I can’t wait to stay here again.
