Below Average
I travel often in China and I realize that generally Chinese hotels do not meet western or European standards, but even for China, this one is below average.

Overall hotel employee performance
I checked in this apartment in the afternoon and was told my booking has upgraded to a non-smoking mini suite. 1st when I used the door key, it didn't work; 2nd after entered the room, no towel in the bathroom, no toilet paper in the toilet; 3rd the whole room was filled with smoke smell. The staff insisted this was a non-smoking room, no sense of trying to help their customers to solve the issue.

Great location - varied room style
Great location and comfortable stay. I must admit the rooms were not bad but they differ quite a lot. We had 2 rooms on this booking and 1 was quite nice, the other was strange. The bathroom was in the middle of the bedroom with glass walls. It also didnt have a sink, the sink was actually in the bed room. The apartment building was odd also, the rooms started on floor 18, it was difficult to find the exact area where your room was once you arrived on 18. The staff were fairly helpful if you could find them. The local tenants seemed more helpful (yes, some of the apartments were privately owned). Rooms were cleaned daily.
Location was actually the biggest surprise for us. Its practically on top of a central MTR station. If you get the right lift, it actually goes right down to the underground station level. Nice shopping centre very close with tons of food options.
Wifi is difficult in China at the best of times. The wifi here is good (speed wise) but it does require you to have a local China mobile number - easy to get with your passport from Unicom or China Mobile.

A Health Risk
As it turns out the best part of this hotel stay was leaving the place. Once we got inside our worst fears were realised. The hotel doesn't look anything like the pictures, it's falling down, the pool has no water, the staff are unhelpful and not around. Now for the fun stuff, the rats running around the place were the size of cats, the cats in the restaurant needed to be out of the front windows and chasing the rats, the smoke smell everywhere was a disgrace, as for the showers which had not EVER BEEN CLEANED, We had to buy our own cleaner for the floors, and still wear shoes. The smell from the sewerage pipes coming into the room made everyone ill, and never went away. I would say I have never stayed at a worse place in my life. Wotif should be ashamed of having it on there hotel list. Pictures tell a 1000 words but they are all lies in this case..

Disappointed stay
Good location but really old building. Hard to find the entrance and the room are not really clean. The girl at the reception was really friendly and helpful even if she doesn't speak English she try her best to communicate and help us. There was one guy at the reception with glasses which was rude.

Dark, dirty
The room was too dark, small windows, lighting was poor (no proper lamp at the desk), not exactly helpful when you have work to do.
Furthermore, the room was dusty, dirty, even smelled moldy.
On the plus side, good location, very close to the subway, malls, Starbucks, restaurants, etc. Mostly calm.

the location is excellent.
There is a terrible mouldy smell. Probably the building is old and the drainage system is poor. Bad for our health. We bought air refresh spray but it did not help.
The good point is the location. It is close to shopping and many good restaurants.

"Convenient location but......."
Frankly, nothing to shout about.
Swimming pool not working.
Room not clean but spacious if you book the executive.
Staffs not even forthcoming or anyway helpful at all.

Family trip
Entrance hidden in the side alley, so hard to find. Lots of vans/cars parked along outside making it seem very scary at night. Lobby is tiny, hotel is called moon Island or something and stared at the 18th floor, to which you need to take another elevator around the pool area to the rooms. Booked 3 rooms for 6ppl (2per). The hallways are creepy, the stairwells are absolutely dark and creepier. Do not go alone. Rooms are average, nice design/space but feels run down. Weird bug deterrent bags in room and bathroom, one of which was a large dead spider not cleaned. For safety and peace of mind, pay more and get a real hotel with a higher rating.

It may be nice once but now a bit run down
This hotel is in a good location but its condition has deteriorated significantly since its glory days. The room was small and lacked a working desk.

Look elsewhere!
The hotel entrance is through a dark alley, unfriendly front desk, and two sets of sketchy elevators. I changed rooms to their executive unit, as the other ones were small and dark. There are much better hotels for this price in Guanzhou. I would not recommend this hotel.

Lugar Suspeito
Muito ruim que a recepção e a equipe não fala inglês, o gerente fala um pouco. Quarto estava e continuou sujo, pouco espelho e pouca luz. A localização é boa.
