Hidden gem
The service was incredible, the views were absolutely stunning (especially in the morning as the fog lifted off the lake). The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable.

If you want to go back to the 70s … this is the pc
This place was so outdated!! We felt like we went back in time to the 70s! TV didn’t work and there was no WiFi or phone service. Thank the Lord we were just there for 1 night. The grounds are beautiful but the place itself needs major renovation.

We reserved a king bed and to be told they did not have any left so we got a room with two very small beds that smelled like mildew. Everything stayed damp. Will not be back nor will I refer people here. Restaurant not very good.

Awesome State Park Lodge
We have never stayed at this State Park lodge before but we will go back. The architecture is similar to the other State Park lodges, the rustic nature wood and stone construction which is beautiful and amazing. The lodge may be a little dated but well maintained and the rooms have received some updates. The food at the lodge was fresh and hot and made to order. The view of Buckhorn Lake from the main dining room is amazing! The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable of the area and activities. While the pool was not in operation yet, they had resealed it and painted it and resealed the entire pool deck area. It looked brand new again. It will be ready for the opening of the pool season on Memorial Day weekend. The pool is well stocked with new lounges and chairs. Another plus is that every room at the lodge has a private balcony with spring rocking chairs and a spectacular view of the lake. We will be back.

Beautiful location. A gem of a 1970’s resort with that warm welcoming old school vacation atmosphere. Staff is very accommodating and there for every possible need. Price is way too low for the sheer beauty, location, cleanliness and quality of staff. This could easily be a 4 star resort with a little cash infusion. We loved our short stay and would recommend this state run resort to anyone who asks.

6/10 Good

Beautiful Area Cabins in Poor Shape
Needs updating of cabins. Also be aware that many facilities are open only part-time or not at all based on the season. Cabins also need repair/replacement of window treatments -- curtains inoperable. Thus unable to see lake or let light in. Exhaust fan in bathroom broken and inoperable. TV operation is not good at all. Updating and improved controls needed.
