Ideal ‘city break’ hotel
Very well located hotel ideal for a short break with easy access to the main tourist attractions. The room was very comfortable and well equipped The breakfast choices were excellent. Wonderful, modern hotel. Rooms were elegant and very quiet. Location was perfect, walking distance to the castle and many other sites. Staff was incredible. Great city centre hotel
Hotel da Baixa is a great 4* hotel in the centre of Lisbon. If you stay here, you won’t need to spend much on public transport or taxis, as many tourist attractions are within walking distance. Many bars and restaurants are within walking distance too, as well as the port. I was in room 115. It is an old building, and the outside cannot be altered. For that reason, some rooms don’t have much natural light. However, there are lots of lights within the room as well as a reading light, and the bathroom has many lights. The bathroom was large with a nice rain shower and 2 sinks. The toiletries provided were great too. There is a laundry service you can pay for if you need it, as well as a hairdryer, umbrella, safe with charging facility inside it, and minibar with some free drinks and bottled water provided daily inside the room and at reception. During the day, fruit or pastries are often available for free. The free walking tour with Pedro was also great and informative. The bed was super-comfortable, and I loved the bathrobe and slippers. The breakfast, which was included in the room rate, was great with lots of cereal, bread, hot food, fruit and waffles or omelettes can be made there and then. The only thing I would suggest is to have the wait staff walk around and see if anyone wants more coffee. This would be a simple thing to do and save always having to get their attention. My husband and I stayed at the hotel for four nights. We would highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay here again. The breakfast had great options, fresh food. The rooms were very clean. The location was amazing. For transportation, it was so close to tram 28, tram 15E for Belem, and 5 minute walk to Rossio train station (to get to Sintra). Central to all landmarks and districts, shopping, restaurants. All staff and service manager were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. They did not hesitate to assist us when needed.
