I usually only ever give positive feedback on reviews but this hotel was a disappointment and I think the hotel rating should be looked at. I stay at a lot of hotels from a 3 star to 5 star and this definitely lined up with a 3.5 star experience in all ways not a 4.5 star unfortunately.
The good
-beds were comfortable as was the bedding and pillows
-decent size room
- nice view of the marina and bay
-the built in lotion/hand soap was a nice quality
Not so good-
-Dated decor in rooms,
-No robes in rooms, had to ask about them. When we did they seemed reluctant to give. And since the pool/hot tub was outside, they are definitely needed.
- no spoons to stir sugar into coffee.
-no toiletries items in rooms such as q-tips, shower cap etc…
-Lacked amenities, the gym wasn’t a gym but a closet with a couple dated machines. They should not list this as a gym.
-The service was decent in the hotel but not the restaurant.
Restaurant food was overcooked and I didn’t even eat more than a couple bites of the salmon it was so overcooked and dry. The service was at a milestones level. Water was never refilled, was not asked how the food was etc... We spent $195 for mid level food and service.
Breakfast was disorganized, our server was really good though, the avocado toast was like a pre-made spread with a salad straight out of the 80’s. The eggs Benedict eggs were overcooked. The food in general was not worth the price at the arbutus room for dinner or breakfast.
