I requested a ground floor room on my reservation, as I was traveling with 3 children alone, including a 3 year old who is disabled, cannot walk independently without a walker or wheelchair/is not able to follow directions, etc. I was not accommodated. We were given a room on the second floor with no elevator.
How am I supposed to not leave him unattended and yet carry luggage up a flight of stairs? I have to have both hands to carry him as he does not hold on.
We arrived to town around 11AM, way too early to check in, which I had no expectations of doing. But I thought we could come, park, and change into our swimsuits in the hotel lobby restroom, and hang out across the street at the beach until check in. That's a no, because the lobby doors are locked. I asked if I could at least use the restroom as I had been driving for several hours, the employee rolled her eyes and sent my daughter and I into a vacant hotel room that had not yet been cleaned from its prior occupant.
The room had carpet, which is a terrible idea at a beach hotel.
It was clean enough to stay, and the beds were comfortable, location is decent, but will not be my first choice when returning to St Augustine. We come down at least once or twice a year.
