I have stayed at Hampton Inn and other Hilton locations for years. This stay, at the property in the 100 block of West 48th Street in NYC was the worst experience I have ever had at any hotel. And it's all because of one aspect -the elevators. I never waited less than 5 minutes for an elevator, and often the wait stretched to 15 minutes. The youngsters working at the front desk could not have cared less. It's rush hour was their standard reply, even at night. The equipent is cheap, with no governor to monitor when a car could skip call buttons because it already weighs too much to add passengers. Picture this: After waiting ten or twelve minutes for an elevator to arrive at my upper level flooor, the now remarkable overcrowded car proceeds to stop at every floor where someone is waiting, often 15 or more stops. That adds 6-8 minutes to the 10 or 12 minutes guests waited to be picked up. You have a real problem,and it won't be solved by giving people a free bowl of Cheerios. Disgusting!

Hotel stay was very convenient to Times Square and only one block away from the subway station. Only downside of our stay were the elevators. We found it ridiculous that it took the elevators 10-15 minute to come to our floor. I know there are a lot of floors but other hotels have figure out a more efficiency way to run their elevators.

We had a great stay at the Hampton Inn. The location is ideal - right next to Times Square. Our room had everything we needed and the staff were really helpful (anything we contacted them about they were quick to respond). It was let down by just a couple of things. The AC in our room was really noisy and not cool enough. We often had a long wait for the elevator - one morning it took us 40 minutes to get downstairs for breakfast. The hotel had tea / coffee in the lobby but we had to ask on several occasions for it to be refilled - not a huge deal but it’s one of the things we checked the hotel offered before we booked.

The elevator system is horrible!! We waited a long time for our assigned elevator and then it was too full and overloaded so couldn’t get on. Crowding in the lobby and wasted time. Breakfast room is way too small for the number of guests. There is nowhere to sit and eat and stairs to lower level are difficult to manage while carrying food. Little variation in fruit, not enough muffins and general chaos everywhere. Staff gave wrong information about location of ice and there is essentially no lobby space to sit or wait and luggage storage in the walkway for breakfast area and elevators. Mass of humanity going every which way. We have stayed at many Hampton Inns but would not stay at this one again.

Elevators and Front Desk shouldn't be so close, very poor design. Floors in dining areas should NEVER be carpeted: the floor was badly stained giving it a dirty appearance, and the chairs would not slide away from the table (making getting up from the table very awkward). Elevator operation design is TERRIBLE: each elevator should service select floors and only those floors, instead of needing to scan your room key and see which elevator is going to go to your floor. This just added to the cluster mess that was the lobby. And, to top it all off, the thermostat in the room only went as low as 68 degrees. To return to our room, during a weekend where the outside temperature was 86 degrees, and not be able to cool off in our room was RIDICULOUS. When I complained, I was offered free water. RIDICULOUS!!

I have never been in such a small room. Had to walk sideways to get past the bed and into the bathroom. It was tiny, smaller than tiny. One of our rooms was hot all weekend, we complained several times but it never got any better. The roof top bar they show in the pictures could not make a Bloody Mary or a White Russian, they were pretty rude downstairs to let you on the elevator and the hostess was not very friendly upstairs either. My daughter tried to join us and they told her we had left already, so she called and we were still there. This is the hotel bar and I don't think they wanted us there. They did have a super nice man who helped book us a car to the airport. Breakfast was pretty good, but it was super crowded.

Nice place to stay in Times Square with good location. Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included and nice to have-a pretty good variety that changes from one day to the next. Rooms were small, but clean. Elevator was busy at times, especially busy breakfast times. I suggest a higher up room as it’s easier to get an elevator. We asked for a scenic room and it had an okay view, not great on the 18th floor, but it was okay. We got their early and they held our bags for free. Check in was easy.
