Good value for central location
Older high-end property now managed by Marriott (was Westin). Great location if you enjoy or want to be very central in downtown SF. Very easy access to BART and other transport. Be aware of resort fee to be paid at checkout - but regardless, is usually a great value around this location. Some people not used to large cities may be put off by the grit of Market Street at night. I have not been concerned for safety walking nearby in seven visits back to 2012. Decent to very good food options within walking distance. Decent to very good entertainment options within walking distance.

Location is great, rooms are nice and spacious but service is baaaaad, front desk is rude

Good 6.0
Service lacking, would not stay again
The good: The room was mostly clean, the shower was decent, there's lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel. The housekeeping staff were very pleasant and prompt. Now the bad: 1. The lobby was always very busy, and there were never more than two attendants (often just one) to assist the guests, resulting in long waits. One of the gentlemen at the Luggage desk was particularly rude. 2. Our room safe had a banana peel in it upon checking into the room. Furthermore, the locking pad mechanism was not working so we could not use the safe. We called several times to the front desk and concierge to report the problem, and the phone was never answered once during the whole trip. On three occasions we asked at the lobby for someone to fix the room safe, and despite them saying it would be looked into, it was never fixed. 3. This hotel charges a "resort fee" of $39 +tax (total $45) daily, and there are few if any amenities to justify this. In fact, we were never even told what amenities existed at the hotel. Frankly it seems a bit ridiculous for this property to charge a "resort fee". It's very unclear what value a guest receives from this. Overall: This is a decently-priced, basic hotel for downtown San Francisco, with the exception of the resort fee, which seems unjustified. The location is convenient. The service, however, left something to be desired, mostly due to lack of available help. Would not recommend.

Very comfortable, and clean. Nice big windows and very reasonable size room. Great location. A fridge and free room wifi would’ve been nice, especially since we had to pay mandatory destination fee.

Hotel is very centrally located in downtown, clean and nice. But the front desk need some training when asking for credit card. They just asked for credit card pin and didnt tell the reason unless I asked. Second at checked out again the front staff asked for which credit card to be used but didnt tell the reason or amount until I asked. Then she said it's for destination fee.

Very nice hotel in a great location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the large resort fee, but otherwise we were very happy with our choice of this hotel

Very happy!
The hotel was in the perfect area, very central. We got upgraded to the 35th floor so we had a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge and downtown area! The staff were very nice and helpful. Kristin, who had wine and pizza (free for guests) in the lobby every evening was super friendly and great to talk to! Couldn’t have been happier!

A pretty nice stay for 4 nights
Great location super close to market street, close to all the shopping & lots of restaurants nearby. Only downside is, there’s lots of homeless ppl on the streets surrounding the hotel due to the the location, no fault of the hotel of course... so at times one may question their safety walking around late at night. Another negative factor is there’s construction next door so if you’re in a room close to it on the side facing the bay, the noise starts very early daily in the AM- except Sundays. Also their pillows are much too soft & no firm options are available. Otherwise a good stay. If you want a more upscale hotel in a better neighborhood, choose a hotel in union square.
