Honestly this was the BEST capsule hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Roomy little capsules (I stayed in the smallest option and I’m a tall lady but it wasn’t claustrophobic at all and the individual air control is a game changer. Also the lock boxes in the pod made me feel super secure with quick trips for food at the grocery store across the way or when showering for electronics and documents. Cozy little common area with drinks and snacks were a great way to unwind and of course the open bath was a MUST after a long day of hiking mountains and such. Definitely would recommend for budget travellers.

There’s a transient clientele who have their own needs such as late arrivals and very early starts which can be disruptive for your sleeping. The hotel is well placed for sightseeing and access to transport.

I reserved this hotel for my cousin, it was the first time she did an international solo trip. The property is near Nijo Castle which is close to the Nishiki Market, the downtown arcades and Heian Shrine. The capsules are wide, conveniently separate by gender and they are cleaned every three days. Within the common area you can have snacks, traditional drinks and water. The facilities include hot spring, hair dryer, washing machine and fast Wi-Fi connection. The staff is friendly, definitely a nice place for solo travelers. Highly recommended for women.

However, it felt somewhat crowded compared to my experience at First Cabin Roppongi in Tokyo, which I personally preferred. Despite this, the overall experience at First Cabin Nijojo was positive. I appreciate the service provided during my stay.

The capsule hotel was such a fun experience, everything was nice and clean, it was super quiet at night. Loved the shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom! They were also very accomodating when I arrived early. My only complaint has to do with the location—kind of a far walk to the trains and the neighborhood is more residential and not very exciting so you kind of feel far removed.
