Not as advertised - brown tap water
The room bathroom and kitchenette were not clean. The water in the room was not processed and was brown in colour. This was very off putting and we chose to forego a shower during our stay. The onsite restaurant was overpriced and the food was of average quality. I would encourage other travellers to seek alternative accommodation even if it means having to travel further afield.

Nice place, interesting building, great view from room. Non drinkable water in room, yellowish water from shower, no coherent explanation why.

Annual pilgrimage
We make an annual trip to fox n hound. The location is great for exploring the area, staff is friendly and rooms are consistently clean. The hotel is dated but we find that’s part of the charm of the trip. Terrific views from sea side rooms.

Good value. Pleasant team
My comments reflect a time only a few weeks after new owners took over. It was a well appointed, spacious apartment. The location is beautiful. The furniture and fittings are a little tired. I would have liked to know about the water issue - we would have brought supply to prevent the need to use so many plastic bottles. The restaurant as comfortable and adequate, pleasant and enthusiastic staff. Limited menu if you have dietary needs.

Never again...
Room view was great, food in restaurant was ordinary and overpriced. When the food quality was mentioned to manager/owner he said, you don't know what you are talking about, he's a top quality chef...the way he said it was extremely rude. Top quality??? Not in my books, and I am an Italian trained chef!!

Very outdated and definitely not 4 star (maybe 2)
Very dated rooms in desperate need of refurbishment. Also there is no town water so the tap, shower and toilet water is dark green and not drinkable- advised of this at check in - wouldve been nice to know before booking as i wouldnt have stayed here. We were provided with ample bottled water at no charge which was appreciated but couldnt escape feeling of being dirty after a shower-- and my daughters refused to shower at all.... The restaurant service and quality is very good. Main benefit is its proximity to the port arthur historic site but realistically you could stay in Hobart and do a day trip or one night stopover max. We paid top dollar because of school holidays but next time would stay elsewhere.

Very cold and no drinkable water although they do provide x2 bottles each and you can refill at the local pub. The water is treated to shower in but you do not feel clean due to the discolouration.

I stayed at this property for one night. The view from the room was nice, and I appreciated that. However, the cleanliness of the room was disappointing. The water quality was terrible – the tap water was brown and very untidy. While they provided drinking water, it was frustrating not being able to use clean water for basic needs like hand wash, face wash . This issue made my stay quite unpleasant and left me feeling irritated.

2/10 Poor

Hospitality at its WORST
I booked the hotel for the night of 19Dec. Unfortunately, my flight to Tasmania was delay and landed 8 hours late at 930pm. Immediately, after I landed. I called the hotel and was surprise that someone actually pick up the call. I explained to her my predicament and she was kind enough to tell me that she will arrange for an after-hours checkin. She then told me to call her back in 5 min, So I called her 5 min later and the call went unanswered. I called again another 5 min later and again the call went unanswered. In total I called her back 15 times and all no one pick up any of my call. Undeterred, I decide to drove 1.5 hours from the airport to the hotel. The hotel was closed and no one answer the door. I happened to see a light in the hotel office and someone was in there. I shouted from outside and that person suddenly switch off the light and ignore my shouting. I was totally disappointed at how someone can run a hospitality business with such poor customer service. To make matter worst, all the hotel in the area were fully booked and we (family of 4) have to spend the night sleeping in the car.

Our room was dirty with many dead bugs on the window sill. The floor in the bathroom was grubby and the floors could have done with a sweep. There was no TV according to the owner that was our fault so he sent the waitress to set it up. Insinuating that we were idiots. The restaurant table we sat at had built up grim and needed a serious scrub.

This property was awesome and quaint. The hotel needs a lot of repair and the water is not drinkable or I wasn’t even comfortable showering in it. There needs to be unlimited drinking water in each room-2 small bottles doesn’t cut it.
