The only reason I am giving this establishment even a two star rating because of the excellent service of the receptionists. When we arrived at Chiado 44, I came to know that there was no elevator in the building. We had been given a room on the fifth floor. I had a health issue and I am not supposed to climb up the stairs up to that level. I was told that it was written in their website; I rechecked and found that no elevator is written in the property section, however, it is obscured in the general description of the property, which can be easily missed. I think that "no elevator in the building" should be written in bold on the first page of the website. When we arrived, there was nobody to help us with the luggage. However, the receptionist picked up our luggage to the fifth floor. We felt so bad for her. Stairs ware dark. When we got to the room, we were so surprise that the room is nothing but an attic converted into a guest room. The room has a one by one and a half foot window with slanting roof. One must be very careful not to bang one's head using the toilet. The room was clean though; however, it was difficult to have enough room to open up suitcases. There was no tea or coffee maker in the room, not even a complementary water bottle. I called Expedia to cancel my reservation, Very reluctantly, the manager canceled my next two day's reservation. I thank her for this. Next morning I moved out of this place. I think this establishment is hyped and overrated.
