I don’t write reviews as often as I’d like, but I think if you’re thinking of staying at the Rio, it’s worth sharing my experience:
First of all, I did book last minute and arrived on Christmas Day. I had never stayed at the Rio but I was surprised at how cheap the rooms were so we decided to give it a shot! I’m talking like $40/night, cheap! However, they do charge high resort fees so those fees ended up costing way more than the room itself. Upon arrival, we had to wait 30 minutes in a long check in line. They have the kiosks but those weren’t helpful to us. We tried checking in on the kiosk and even though it was already 10pm, it said our room wasn’t available so we ended up in the long line. When I finally reached the counter, I was told they were out of double queens, which is what I booked, and that they could only offer me a king bed with a rollaway bed. Mind you, we are a family of 4, but she assured me 2 people fit on the rollaway bed - not true. One of my kids ended up in bed with us and the other slept on the rollaway. The room we got was outdated but at least the size was ok, especially for a family of 4. The other very important factor for us is food. All restaurants at the Rio close pretty early, either 10pm or 11pm so good luck finding good food late at night if you stay here. The only thing open from 9pm-5am is a pizza place. We ordered a pepperoni pizza which was ok, and 2 single slices which were cold. We couldn’t eat them. We won’t be staying here again.
