Disappointing
The room was large and lovely, especially the bathroom. The balcony could have been an excellent addition, however it was covered in bird poo, including the balistrade and chairs and table. It didn't look like it had been cleaned for some time.
We had dinner at the restaurant. The food was very good. The service was polite but inefficient and amateur. We were served a different (more expensive) bottle of wine than the one we ordered. We felt rushed to move on to the next course. The staff didn't seem to be communicating with each other.
Then came check out! I felt as if we were in an episode of Fawlty Towers. The woman had little idea how to operate the EFT terminal and kept us waiting while she tried to understand the invoice, then we were overcharged (later corrected).
This could be a beautiful hotel, but it is tired and run down and in deep need of maintenance and some management skills.

Unique and interesting
The interior of the hotel has a historic vibe and the room was nice and very comfortable beds. The Wi-Fi never worked even though the paper they have is said service might be intermittent however it was non existent. This place could be super cool if it had a little updating. We enjoyed the grounds and would stay again. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.

Not too good
We were a very late check-in. No one in reception, had to take heavy suitcases to our room. Difficulty to trace our booking.

Unfortunately our room wasn’t cleaned!! We checked in at 4pm. Check in is at 3pm. So we had to disappear for a while so it could be cleaned. Cutting into our time at the hotel. The rooms all need to be updated. I mean who even uses a dvd player anymore??? No decent sized tv in the room and no streaming services? Nescafé instant coffee in the room. Are you serious!! What am I paying all this money for one nights accommodation for? If it wasn’t for the amazing staff member who went above and beyond to fix up our room as the cleaners were “unavailable “ it would have been a disaster and a completely different experience. Get up with the time Chateau Yering! The room needs an upgrade!!!!!

The place called Yering Chateau Hotel is very interesting old building with the riches of history and amazing food for dinner also breakfast. Walked around to visit Yering Station and Wine Cellar to buy some sparking wine and Port which grow and manufactured at wine growing farm and brewery, we visited. I high recommended to everyone to come and stay at Chateau Hotel .

Enjoyable Stay
Beautiful, historic property that sadly is looking a little tired and calling out for some TLC. Still a great place to stay with lovely, friendly, helpful staff and nice little extras, particularly the quality toiletries and size of the suites. The food in Eleanor’s Restaurant was good but nothing was served hot - it was just warm which we both felt let it down a little. Breakfast was cooked to order and absolutely delicious every day. Great coffee too 😍 A tasting in the winery is a must!

The property definitely exudes the luxury of days long gone. It’s charming as are the staff. Breakfast is lovely. However the dinner was greatly overrated and overpriced. We felt it tried too hard at being innovative, but missed the mark. The lamb was too fatty and the miso sauce of the salmon was far too salty. Disappointing.
On another note one felt every winery, chocolate or cheese factory was a tourist trap.
However the eateries in the villages were lovely!

A lovely property, very history and nice gardens BUT check in staff were severely lacking in information regarding our stay… No information given regarding dinner, breakfast or offers within facility like drinks in lounge etc… very overpriced room for what the offering was and the dinner at the restaurant was eye-boggling overpriced for the serve size…. You can present it fancy but a tiny piece of beef on mash and a flavourless dessert for $170 for two people is just price gouging.
The two staff we managed to find in the hotel to speak to were abrupt and dismissive.
Overall very disappointed with the amount of money spent for what was meant to be a special night away.

Easter wine and dine experience
True to its heritage. Ambience was awesome. You can sense the history of the whole place. Breakfast was good. Opulent interiors. Friendly staff. But wifi was slow. TV was small. No streaming service. Bed sank in the middle and pillows werent firm enough. Seat cushion of chairs around small table inside the room needed replacing. But overall we enjoyed the experience.

Grand Old Dame
Given the age (and history) of the building it was in fairly good condition. Needs some $$$$ spent on it to bring it up speed and that would make it something quite special again. (A grand old lady). It was very quiet and peaceful.
The staff, (all of them) were absolutely amazing (went out of their way to assist) and made it a very pleasant stay for us. Food was excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

The property is old but well maintained. Rooms are old but very tasteful. Only fault seems to be that walls are paper thin and could hear bathrooms used by other guests . Otherwise everything was lovely
