Good hotel, great location.
Lovely hotel in a classic location. Staff all good, very friendly and helpful. Room was quite small for four people. Housekeeping was regular and efficient. Standard sized double beds (x2) were small and not that comfortable. Obviously an old building but it felt a little old and tired. Small areas that need repainting, refreshing, renovation. Only small areas though. Could do with more power points, lights. The south beach area is very lively at night with the whole spectrum of people on the sidewalk. Grab a table outside, a cold drink and lose a few hours people watching!

Friendly, classic deco hotel on the beach
Classic example of a south beach deco hotel. What it lacks in modern amenities it more than makes up for in character and aesthetic. The location was brilliant and across the street from the beach. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Rooms are small. Hotel is a bit older so it does not have a new, contemporary feel if that’s what you’re looking for. I did not like that there were no drawers or dressers to unpack clothes for the duration of our stay. Living out of a suitcase for the week was the only option. Lastly, the restaurant and bar closed down at 10pm, even on Friday & Saturday nights. I am not a late night partier, by any means, but on vacation, in South Beach, Miami, it would have been nice to have a nightcap later than 10pm at the hotel bar. I, personally, will not stay here again, and would certainly not recommend it.

Art Deco Gem on the Beach
Avalon Hotel made our first trip to Miami Beach a memorable one! It’s a cool historic Art Deco hotel with a fun vibe. It sits across from the beach in a great location on Ocean Drive. We had drinks and enjoyed the nightly live music there, and also we could walk to restaurants in both directions. Didn’t need a car. Hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. The only hiccup was the walls are thin and at 2:00am the first night the guests next door were talking loudly. I went down to the desk clerk and they took care of it. Was the only time. Otherwise a wonderful stay.

My first visit to South Beach so I guess I do not if standard of judging is different here. This hotel is located in a nice location and is historic. However, the building needs some serious repairs. The room was quiet, with comfortable bed and really large TV. However, the bathroom was really small. The towel had stains on it. The elevator is really small. Again, overall I do not know if it is one of nicer properties in the immediate vicinity since all those building are so old.

Very charming boutique hotel, beds were comfortable, easy access to beach and restaurants along Ocean Drive. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bathroom was small but was suitable. We were right in the middle of the NYE festivities which was perfect.
