Exceeded expectations
Booked a last minute trip to NY during Christmas, and this was all I could find that wasn't $1k+ a night, so I wasn't expecting to much. This place is awesome. The room was much better than I thought, yeah the ceilings are open, but it's whatever. I LOVED the septate men's and women's floors it made me feel very safe. The line for the bathrooms gets a little crowded in the am, but it's whatever. The location is perfect! I walked around and solo at all different times and always felt safe. It's like a 5 min walk to Little Italy, and like 10 mins to China Town. Nice and clean, very cute decor.

its okay for a hostel and low price
It was very clean. I was on the 4th but spent time on the 3rd. The male person that worked did come into the womens area, and looked at me crazy when i told him it was womens only. It was rude (dark skin black guy with short twist hair). I would stay here again if I couldnt find anyplace else. Didnt like the 4 flights of stairs no elevators, but all was doable.

Stay Away - Book Elsewhere
I was charged an extra $50 at check in. The co-ed "rooms" are a hallway row of padlocked closets with a "mattress" on a steel bed frame. The ceiling is lattice fence covered in burlap material. There is no noise/ talking & headphones must be used on devices or be charged a $100 noise fee. No food or drink allowed in "room". The common area is folks sleeping in chairs and sofa to be out of their claustrophobic enclosures. The mens bathroom has 1 toilet stall which is ironically larger than your room. Next to it are 2 narrow shower spaces with thin plastic curtains across from two small sinks and 2 small mirrors. Absolutely no privacy especially when theres a line behind you or your having to wait in line. Book at another hostel/ hotel. This one is noth woth the time or money
Can be fined if you make any noise with lattice & burlap ceiling

Great stay!
I’ve stayed in several hostels and this one far exceeded my expectations. The smallness of the room was totally fine! Bathrooms always clean. Nice kitchen was also clean. Felt very safe there. Loved being on the female only floor. Comfortable sitting in the living room in my pajamas!

SOLO TRAVEL ON A BUDGET.
PRO: Great for solo travelers. It was the cheapest I found during New Years week. The front desk & virtual staff were very friendly. It was safe. Great location. Very homie feel. CON: the room was a literal box. The beds are too small. If you have big luggage you can’t move it around. The bathroom was dirty at times.

Interesting, to say the least
Service was amazing and the cleaners were always on top of everything. If you had an issue the front desk person was always willing to help out and customer service was on call. Beautifully decorated shared spaces. Only thing is that the beds and pillows were super uncomfortable and you can hear EVERYONE in the hallway at all times. I had to change rooms because someone was snoring so loud. Excellent location. Overall a bit overpriced for what you're getting but that's New York.

4/10 Fair

Great place except for the other guests
This is a really cool property in an amazing location. The staff is friendly and the common areas are awesome. It is one of the coolest and best decorated hostels I've ever been to. Unfortunately, the walls do not go all the way up to the ceiling and noise travels quite a bit. The other guests are consistently rude and will keep you up all night. People will talk and even have sex (single occupancy rooms) during quiet hours, and the door near the kitchen area slams anytime someone goes through it, which is about ten times an hours.

I liked it is centric and close to subway and bus. I didn't like the check in is "online"; the host should be in the reception to provide assistance.

it's a 9 month new into the open, they renovated from a bar/restaurant I believe, awesome setup and common area for reading, working your laptop, or just the lounge every floor. They have female only floor too. They have Wednesday and Friday event going on the reception floor too, like live music or comedian, tenants get free access. The only thing I hoped more the air circulation on the sleeping area and also the opposite street seems with lines of people for public beneficiaries though, but non concern any way just a bit appearance.

The pods are not properly closed on top, you can hear everyone coughing and hacking. I got a nasty strain of Covid here and am still unwell 12 days later and miserable. Do not stay here in fall/winter - or if you are immunocompromised - ever. It’s a lovely hostel with great location and amenities annd common spaces otherwise but with that warning. The staff are kinda absentee everything’s on some video call box and it takes ages to find a human. I felt like asking them a question was an inconvenience and waited a long time in the lobby. Not the end of the world but feels like they need customer service refresher. I wasn’t asking for anything high maintenance either - just help checking in/out and bag storage. They should offer face masks (not just eye ones, mouth kind) and insist anyone with cold symptoms wear it inside the building at least.

Absurdly Small
It’s a submarine unit sized room, with rules and regulations equivalent to Soviet Russia for no noise, food, guests or drinks. It’s a bed in a Porto potty essentially. But it’s cheap for New York, which is being the tallest midget in terms of hotel rooms. Walls are thin, expect to hear snores, itches, burps and farts of anyone near you throughout the night.
