We stayed at The Westin St John for our first leg of our honeymoon. The resort was beautiful, the rooms, property and staff were great! Location is perfect, they offer taxi service into Cruz Bay where there are tons of shops, bars, and places to eat. Very easy, safe and convenient!

Great view but could be better!
We stayed here 3 years ago…just seemed better then. This time…people were nice but property (room) needs to be freshened up. Tile floor had chips in it, doorways into bathrooms were chipped and the door into the laundry closet came off the hinges when we opened it. Dark cabinets/dark fabrics. When we called Skorkels to order dinner…the guy at the bar (in the middle of my order) told me he was too busy, he had to deliver drinks to a table and I should call back. Really? At a Westin? Property really needs to be freshened up! Plus…I eat gluten free and would be nice to have some options at Mango’s Deli for breakfast. All breakfast sandwiches and pastries were not. GF pizza crust not available either.

This resort is not the relaxing mecca it is portrayed to be. First off we were placed in a handicap accessible room with an odd floor plan. With a very few exceptions, the hospitality staff seem to be listless and bored to be there. There is one large pool and it is full of 8-12 year olds throwing balls across it bothering and intruding upon the relaxtion of adults. Nothing is included in the room price, but the room. Even social events at the pool area where by fee. It's like flying Spirit Airlines. The only restaurant that served breakfast was closed half the week. This only left a mini starbucks for breakfast. A meal at the outdoor restaurant came with a can of bug spray. Biting bugs were everywhere. The shuttle service within the resort was sketchy at best, Do your research before spending $600 a night to relax here. The bright spot is that the grounds were beautifully maintained. We won't return to this resort or any other Marriott owned resort.

The following was expressed in a e-mail to the General Manager. We have not had a reply. This was our first visit to the Virgin Islands and during our stay in St John we selected Westin based on its reputation. While the staff was courteous, friendly, and helpful, we experienced a significant level of miscommunication and a stay in what was described as an “out of service“ room. We were given the keys to the wrong room, sent to the wrong concierge, and missed a welcome packet. The room had a shower that was a pipe with no faucet, a toilet that constantly ran and a phone that didn’t work. We were offered a different room after I complained but we had unpacked and were taking a nap. The next day, the toilet was fixed then the handle broke. The shower was a major repair so was not done (there was a second shower and toilet). Staff did not communicate with one another so we were bothered 5 separate times about them coming to fix the darn toilet. We should have never been placed in that room. The staff should have communicated better and have more professional protocols.
