I believe that we received the value for what we paid. It was a small room but we were right on the end so it was fairly quiet which was nice. The shower had almost too much pressure and there wasn't much space. As someone that is 6'6, I need to be able to fit in showers so a little more space would have been nice. The bed was comfortable and there were extra pillows in the closet which I appreciated.

My whole experience with Mercure was horrible. We paid the most at Mercure ($274.21 for one night) and the room was not the greatest which was fine but the bathroom was broken. The toilet would not flush at all. We called the reception desk around 6-ish pm to inform them of the issue and they said someone would come up and take a look at it shortly. By 8 pm, no one had shown up and the bathroom could not be used. We finally went down at around 9-ish to ask them again and they said someone should be up soon. Half hour later, someone came in and took a look at it and they said it was an issue with the water not filling properly in the toilet and said he will try doing something that “may” help. After he left, we used the bathroom again and the problem was still there. The toilet would just not flush. The only thing you could do was pee (sorry, not trying to be gross or anything) and then use glasses of water to try to flush it but the toilet paper still stayed in there. So if you wanted to do something more than that, sorry, you’re out of luck. There was absolutely nothing that was done about the matter in a professional way as it was an issue on Mercure’s end. Perhaps giving us a similar room with a toilet that functioned would’ve been a better idea but none of that was done and we were told it “may work”. Very disappointed in the service that I received from Mercure. Definitely would not recommend it to anyone else or use it in the future!

This is an Adult Hostel not a proper hotel. Broken internet over a 2 day stay which is really troublesome when you are trying to plan your visit to a new city. I spoke repeatedly with staff and I kept getting the same spin. Restaurant is dirty, rooms are really, really tired and they were late to check me in. This is my first ever negative review of a hotel but other than the location there's nothing else good about this property. It's clearly a tour bus destination as reception is generally 10 - 15 deep so don't be in a hurry to ask a question or check in/out. My experiment with Mercure is over and I won't ever book again.

    Central Location

Hotel lobby, lounge and dining room were very nice. The hotel was centrally located so we could walk to many historic sites. We had a nice view of the castle from our room. The down side was that our room was so tiny that we had to lift our suitcases over the bed to get them to the other side of the room. There was no dresser and very little storage for clothing - only about 6 hangers. This was the only hotel of the 7 we stayed in during our vacation that had a retractable clothes line in the bathroom. This hotel is ok for a one or two night stay but we reserved for four nights. At $250 Cndn a night, it was not worth it.

The one good thing about this hotel is its location close to the Waverly train station. This was the only good thing about this hotel. Our room had shabby furniture, a bathroom door that wouldn’t close due to warping and with the lock torn away, a broken phone, two beds on wheels that scooted away from you if you tried to sit on them, a shower control that was all but impossible to turn and a carpet that made one hesitant to remove their shoes. As the phone was broken, I went down to the desk to request a 6:00 a.m. wakeup. The wakeup came at 5:40. In our many years of travel this rated as the worst hotel room we’ve ever encountered. Simply terrible.
