Maybe Covid19 has changed hotel courtesy?
Small room but comfortable. Covid-19 has been a factor in checking into different hotels and each one does it differently. There was large yellow caution tape and traffic cone at front desk, although knowing the reason for them , the appearance truly cheapens the foyer and is intimidating. Staff initially was unwelcoming but upon feedback and talking he managed to somewhat soften.

Toilet problem.
Toilet didn't work. Wouldn't flush. Didn't find out until middle of the night and too late to get maintenance person in to fix it. I was just too tired to start calling people and waiting for fix. I eventually had to open up and fix it myself. Otherwise, the location was fine.

One thing after another.
I booked a hotel room with two queens for three nights. First thing is we got put a room with two doubles. Next thing is that the fridge started making this high pitched whining noise. When we shifted the fridge to see if it was indeed the fridge making the noise, a moldy grape rolled out. The air conditioner in our room was also very obviously broken, being pulled out from the wall with a massive hole in its pipe. I should also note our room was missing pieces of furniture that were present in the rooms of our friends who had similar layouts; a dresser and a comfortable chair. As the noise from the fridge was quickly getting excruciating, we went down to the front desk to see if anything could be done. After waiting in the lobby for fifteen minutes, someone finally arrived to address the line that had developed. We told the woman at the desk our issues and she checked the computer and told us she could move us but only for the night as she had different guests coming in the next day for the room and it was the only one in our "category." Leaving off that her words made entirely clear that there were other rooms she could have moved us to but chose not to, we were left without the comfort of a room that we would be able to stay in the entire weekend without being moved. We moved all our things for the night and decided not to unpack as we were told that we would have to move again in the morning. Morning, we came down to the front desk to negotiate our stay. ..

Very nice
I had a room on the 3rd. Floor and it was super with nice lighting, small fridge with separate freezer door/ compartment, fully tiled counters and bathroom. Separate closet with ironing board inside. Only downside was renos to the room next door which started at around 9:00am, next morning but the noise was not too bad at all.

A Great Place to Stay
I highly recommend this hotel. The room with kitchenette was up-to-date and had everything we needed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, accommodating our need to extend our stay on a day-to-day basis due to an unexpected situation. It is situated on the main north-south highway (Hwy 1) giving easy access to or from anywhere on Vancouver Island, as well as easy drive to downtown Victoria. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
