Amazing property and value with excellent location and amenities. Room was absolutely gorgeous with very comfortable beds and living spaces. The wrap around Lanai was fantastic! My family was very happy and content with the room and its amenities. The property itself is beautiful and the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our only complaint: The room had a washer and dryer but was not to be used per the owners of the property. An inconvenient detail for sure and although the property itself had a washer and dryer it was almost impossible to use due to other guests. I specifically looked for rooms with washer/dryers for convenience- should have stated on the room detail page that the unit did not have a washer/dryer. Highly recommend the Whaler!!

We went with another couple and loved the walkability of the area. The staff were fabulous, the gardens were impeccable, parking was easy. What we did NOT know is that we were getting a room (apartment) that belongs to someone renting out their place to tourists. There were a couple of things that could have used a fresher-upper, but it was a lovely apartment with a great view. Generally it was SO good and we WILL be back (but maybe not THAT particular apartment).

Terrible management!
We booked a 1-BR oceanfront unit weeks in advance, but when it came time to check in at 4 pm they did not have any such units available and tried to put us in a 2-BR oceanfront unit that was in the middle of lanai construction instead. This construction not only blocked half the view but meant workers would be there all day. We refused to accept the unit and asked to speak to a manager, but all managers had left for the day even though it was check-in time. They finally gave us a lower category unit 2 hours later and said they would give us a price credit the next day, but one week later they have yet to process the credit. This is the worst hotel experience I've had in many years of active traveling.

The Whaler was amazing. It had everything we needed. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Right on a gorgeous clean beach. The property was well maintained and customer service was top notch. Next time we are in Maui this will be our go to place. Room 116 was perfect!
