This is a great location for a one or two night stay. A view of the canal locks with the huge ships travelling through is available from every single room. The Inn is located right on the bike path and there's a large park a block away. Our Inn room was fresh with crisp paint, new carpet and new bathroom fixtures. We were surprised that coffee and tea were provided and the room had a refrigerator. (We unplugged ours as we didn't need it and it was a bit noisy.) There were air conditioners for each room, but weren't necessary for our August visit. (Ceiling fans may be more efficient.) The outside hallways had a real Southern California beachy feel. We were allowed to keep our bikes under the stairwell where there was even a pole to which to lock up. If the Inn at Lock Seven was to promote itself as the Bike Hub it could be I would recommend the following: Install a bike rail on the stairs. Offer a shed for bike parking so stairs are a choice. Install a bike rack near the front door. Consider acquiring loaner bikes for visitors who arrive without bikes. Keep a bike pump and a few repair supplies like tubes and advertise it! It's an easy walk to town where the first restaurant you come to is Pho 18, Asian Fusion Cuisine which serves excellent food, is clean and lovely inside and has a very reasonable price point. The visitor centre is a few blocks south. This is a lovely little Inn and we enjoyed our stay. The proprietor was helpful, friendly and COVID safe.

If you are looking for a quiet, quaint property with a lovely view of the locks this Inn is a great choice. The room is spacious and the top floors open to a balcony with a perfect view if the ships passing by. The bathroom is very dated and will need an update, but the room was clean and the beds comfortable and the owner and housekeeper were very friendly.

We loved out stay here. Hotel staff are very nice, but the location right on the canal made it so much fun. We really got to be boat heads! Very clean, a bit old fashioned which was fine with us, a nice size table and two comfy chairs which we miss in most other places now, and a balcony where you can sit and enjoy watching the birds and the boats. Walls are concrete which means very quiet but also means internet is spotty. Bring a fan to boost the A/C from the entry into the room a bit. The beds are hard -- we got used to that. Fridge and coffee maker but no microwave. A short walk into town for supplies, shopping, restaurants. Be sure to visit the museum at Lock 3 to get an understanding of how the lock system works. So interesting! We loved this place and plan to come back.

It was hot and smelly. Air conditioner was set at 66°C and the room was still too hot to sleep comfortably. (We were there on a hot and humid summer day, so opening the window would only make things worse.) the room smelled stale and of dirty carpet. The bathroom was so badly in need of updating that it was difficult to tell if the tub and surround were actually clean. Access to bottled water would have been appreciated. The hallways were stiflingly hot.
