A classy place to stay with the family
Very friendly front desk staff, exceptional housekeeping, and a great location, right in the downtown. Nice large room, with great fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and tea kettle. Only drawbacks of the room were the less than ideal mattress and a shower head that tended to whistle. The location is only a block from the empress, and historic downtown shopping, or even 2-3 very short blocks to the mall or the waterfront. The only downside to its location may depend on your likes or dislikes to the nightlife scene as there is a bar, and nightclub next door and a lot of smoking outside that nightclub every evening. I cannot say enough about the friendly staff, or the historical nature of this hotel. The family and I had a great time, and plan to stay here again in the future.

The perfect stay. Absolutely perfect.
My sisters and I had a great time at Strathcona. It’s in the heart of downtown, so we were able to walk to and from all of our destinations. There’s a recall, 7/11, and mall across the street which proved convenient. We came back to the hotel to take naps between activities and meals! Our room and bathroom was bigger than the photos entailed, and for such a good price. They even made up for my poor packing by providing extra toothbrushes, conditioner, shaving kits, and umbrellas for free! The front desk ladies were so kind, the hotel was beautiful and clean and quiet, I loved it.

Great place to stay!
My son and I very much enjoyed our stay here. We came on the Black Ball Ferry without our car. It was a very easy walk from the ferry to the hotel. We arrived at 11am hoping to have them hold our bags but they already had a room ready for us and allowed us to check in early. The staff were very friendly and our room and beds were very comfortable. It was a great location. We were able to walk to restaurants and museums. The day we checked out they held our bags so we didn't have to carry them around until our ferry left at 4. I would highly recommend this hotel and definitely stay again!
