Overly rated and still under construction
Overly rated and expansive for what you get. The hotel is still under renovation, so it is noisy all day long. Forget about taking a nap after the beach. Construction noise will keep you up. Will not go back. Also note that the standard room does not have ocean view, not even partial. Their web site doesn’t say that.

Noisy, Pretentious, and not for Solo Travelers
I stayed here thinking I was going to get an LGBTQ+ experience, and girl what an experience I had! For starters, there is MAJOR construction right next door, so if you want to rest and not have to wake up at the crack of dawn to the sounds of hammers hammering and drills drilling, I recommend you search for a quieter option and don’t stay here. Next, if you’re a solo traveler, this place is not for you- the lack of attention to detail to make you feel at home was subpar for an establishment charging upwards of $300 a night- certainly NOT Mexican standards, a real shame. The staff can be pretentious and “uppity”, when it came to going that extra step in customer service. For example, I waited forever for my breakfast, that never came- when I complained, they didn’t seem to care or offer an alternative; when I tried to park in front but then was asked to park somewhere else although later I saw cars parked in the same exact spot I wanted to park in; when I was chased down the hall to put my mask on, even after I had my mask on in the lobby (required) and took it off in the hallway, with no one around; when the hot tub didn’t hold the water and when they supposedly came by to fix it, nobody checked in with me later to see that it was OK; when asked to go to the beach I was directed to the stairs (VERY LONG WALK) and wasn’t told about the shuttle that can take you; when trying to get a massage, only to find myself trying to find the massage therapist in Mantamar.

    short but sweet
We had to check out the day after we checked in due to the boarder closing back to the USA (as an Aussie we wouldn’t have been able to get back in to continue on to Australia) Unfortunately we were unable to get a refund as we booked through this website. We’ll not do that again. The hotel was amazing look forward to seeing the new extension finished. My thoughts are with the hotel staff and the community down in PV in this difficult time.

    Poor 2.0
CONSTRUCTION is unbearable!! Staff is rude and if you’re booking on they will put you in the WORST room. WiFi does not work and they are unable to fix it. The beach is super far away during construction don’t be fooled! It’s SO loud in your room even with the door closed and music or white noise. The balconies are dusty and basically unusable from morning until night. They are doing absolutely nothing to make things better it’s just basically sorry... This place is a timeshare trap so unless you’re in their timeshare program you will be treated like crap and get bad rooms. This place is going downhill fast and it shows. They also will NOT give you your Gold benefits even though they say they will on the website.

It is a beautiful property, great location and lots of fun. There were serval things that customer service fell way short and some that were excellent. I needed access to a business center which isn’t available but client relations staff allowed me brief access to her personal work station. That was amazing. The staff on the beach was very friendly. However, there was significant construction that we were not made aware of until we arrived. One big thing that was a major customer service fail was that we arrived to the beach property with our luggage & told that check-in/bag check was at hotel on 10th floor. We were told we had to walk up & couldn’t leave bags-check-in was at hotel lobby only. We started to walk up W bags 10 stories. then midway we found a staff entrance w/ elevator access. We were told we couldn’t use this entrance nasked if wwe could just send our bags up & told no. We finally got to lobby and Check-in. During the Check-in & property amenities intro, we were told that the elevator to beach was not available. We said we were fully aware. But at that point they informed us there was a shuttle from lobby to beach. We were never made aware of this ! That was important info. Also, The stairs to the beach were a mess, I understand that it may not be owned by the property but it was directly adjacent and you had to walk Through Trash. Didn’t get room we requested But had to move last night

Fees, Fees, Signatures, and more Fees
Paid a mandatory "Resort Fee". Fee was increased because I paid in local currency (Peso) instead of USD. Had to sign about 3 pages worth of legal agreements at check-in. They asked for a copy of my Passport, not just a Passport Card, even though only a Passport Card was required to travel to Mexico from the US by land or sea. The bell hop showed me to my room, where I was told the first water bottle would be free, then all others would be a fee. The first cup of in-room coffee would be free, then the 2nd would have a fee. I was asked to sign a 3 page menu of mini-bar prices, which were higher than most prices in the US. My "Resort Fee" included one free drink at the lounge upstairs. When I presented the coupon for the free drink, I was asked for my room number and signature, in case they needed to add fees. Beach and hotel was a 6 flight staircase and two block walk down to the beach. With the exception of the clientele at the rooftop lounge, nothing about this hotel said "gay men".Slapping "LGBT" on the name of the hotel and displaying a rainbow flag does not warrant the higher prices and endless fees and signatures. Next time, I will be staying at a "gay men only" hotel where swimsuits are not required (no offense, but I have very little in common with the other "letters" of the sexual minority community). Or, I will be staying at a "straight" hotel (which would not be that different from the Almar) and save myself the headache of endless fees and forms.

Nice experience! Great room, nice view.
What a nice experience. We were upgraded to a room with a separate living and kitchen area, as well as two patios. The view was great, overlooking the main gay beach of Puerto Vallarta. The restaurant had really good food, and the waiters were attentive and cute. I will definitely stay there again!

    I won't go back there
If you are young and gay, this is for you. The beach is down, down many steps (no elevator) and the boom-boom of the disco music never stops on the beach. The breakfast food is .... questionable. If you want to go to the center of town where all the restaurants, bars and fun is, you'd better be prepared to walk up and down steps on cobblestone streets to get there. We always took taxis. The hotel is still under construction: noise everywhere.
