Rome and related destinations

Toss a coin into the Trevi Fountain and legend promises your return to this eternal city. The Colosseum stands as a magnificent ruin where you can almost hear ancient crowds roaring. Vatican Museums house artistic treasures culminating in Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, where necks crane upward in collective awe. Spanish Steps offer perfect people-watching while enjoying gelato that makes commercial ice cream seem like a sad compromise. Piazza Navona's baroque fountains provide theatrical backdrops for espresso sipping. The Pantheon's perfect dome still defies architectural logic two millennia later. Even Rome's ordinary corners reveal extraordinary fragments of history – ancient columns casually incorporated into medieval buildings as if history were simply a practical building material.

The Hive Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"The room/bathroom was in excellent condition and very clean. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and comunicated in very good english as unfortunately we did not speak italian. Breakfast option was good with a decent selection and timings were very helpful. The only observation not a criticism is that staff in the breakfast area were too absorbed in bringing/taking things from the eating area and lacked little friendliness. Overall it was a great experience. Some areas around have some homeless people but there are plenty of roads leading to the hotel which are nice with lots of shops and restaurants. Nearby train station has lots of option for food/shopping. We enjoyed our stay in The hive hotel."

"So many good things! The hotel is in a great location, very clean and modern. The room was quiet, the matress was perfect firmness and memory-foam pillows were fantastic. No aching back for the whole stay! The breakfast buffet is so good with so many delicios options! The only downside was that smoking area is in the inside courtyard, so I do not recommend opening windows if they are facing the courtyard. But the conditioner works great in the room and is easy to operate, so it was not a problem. Otherwise it was very quiet!"

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Rome

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most budget-friendly months to visit Rome are January, February, and November, when hotel prices tend to be lower. To truly appreciate the city's rich history and culture, a stay of at least 3 to 4 days is ideal for exploring its iconic landmarks, historic sites, and cultural treasures. During your visit, you can discover magnificent cathedrals, impressive monuments, fascinating museums, stunning art, and captivating ruins, all while enjoying great value for money. With the possibility that prices may drop in these months, it’s an excellent opportunity for those on a budget.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: To uncover last-minute deals to Rome, visit the DealsOpens in a new window or Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections on Hotels.com, where you may discover discounted hotel rates as your travel date approaches. Consider enabling email alerts or push notifications to stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, helping you achieve a more economical stay. Additionally, the Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window tool available via the app allows you to compare hotel prices and amenities, making it easier to find the best options. If prices drop or rooms become available, you could be among the first to know, optimizing your chances for savings.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year, so being flexible with your travel dates could help you save on your stay in a hotel in Rome. If you're seeking unique accommodations, boutique hotels often provide a more personalized experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we’ll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we’ll suggest alternative dates that could be more affordable, helping you find a better deal.
  4. Consider your location: Hotels near the city centre usually tend to be pricier, but with Rome's outstanding public transit options, you might discover a more affordable independent hotel a bit further out that remains well-connected. For those interested in exploring alternative, less crowded neighbourhoods or even lesser-known nearby towns, there is often excellent value for money. Opting for these alternative destinations could provide a more authentic and budget-friendly experience.
