Comfortable stay
Water pressure of the shower head was rather low. Our room was beside the road and we could hear external sound and movement. We had booked a junior suite and parking was included, but this was not conveyed to us. We had parked at a free parking space about 7 minutes away and it was very cold and slippery walking over. Only when we decided to pay and park in the underground garage on the second day that we were informed that complimentary parking was provided with our room type. This could be communicated to us during check in. In addition, the entrance and exit to the garage was very tight. If any traveller decides to park there, will need to bear in mind the space. Other than the above, room was clean and relatively spacious.

Absolutely Perfect Stay
This hotel was perfect! It’s located just across the street from bus stop 4 and has beautiful views of the harbor and Mt. Esja. It is perfectly located so that you can walk to many restaurants, shops, and is just a 20 minute walk to the bus terminal. The walk to the bus terminal takes you past a beautiful lake! Breakfast was provided every morning and was delicious! They offered fruit, cereal, skyr, fish, bacon, sausage, pastries, cinnamon rolls, beans, eggs, coffee and juice. The first floor of the hotel has a great burger restaurant, bakery, and bar. All were delicious! Will definitely be staying here for our next trip to Iceland!

Exeter good choice for solo women travelers
Exeter Hotel is a good choice for solo women travelers as all entrances, elevators etc. are only accessed with a key card. Easy pick up/drop off for day tours directly across the street from the hotel at Bus Stop number 4. The staff is helpful and supportive. I would have liked to have been given a heads up that in winter there may be condensation on the windows and glass doors which can lead to pooling of water. Otherwise it was a great experience.

Comfortable, convenient, friendly boutique hotel.
My room was cleaning comfortable. I loved that the door opened for Greg air even though there was no balcony. Front desk was SUPER helpful on a number of requests. Convenient coffee shop and restaurant downstairs. I didn’t use them, but the sauna was a big plus in a small boutique hotel. Convenient to downtown and lots of shopping and restaurants. Adorable “greenhouse dining” outside. Controlled access to guest floors. As a woman traveling alone in Iceland for the first time I felt safe. Hotel transfer pick up just across the street. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved our stay at the Exeter Hotel! Super convenient location for local walking / shopping, as well as right across from bus stop #4 for when we booked a tour and when we had a whale watching adventure. Front desk provided excellent restaurant recommendations when asked. Bagel shop in the lobby was delicious! I highly recommend this hotel for your Iceland stay!

I just stayed here for four days/three nights, and it was great! The location is really convenient. There is a bus stop across the street for both the airport bus as well as the various tours, making it really easy to use those. It’s walkable, too, with a lot of stuff with a few minutes’ walk. The breakfast buffet was good, and the bakery on site is delicious! Between the kleinur and creme brulee donuts, I was in Heaven! The restaurant is pretty good, too. The room was great! European rooms are smaller than their American counterparts, but it was still spacious enough with a large rack to hang stuff. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was good. The shower had a rainfall head and was fairly enclosed. A pet peeve of mine is European showers that only have a partition that goes halfway or no lip on the floor, so water kinda goes everywhere. Not a problem here. Finally, I got in really early, hours before check-in, but they were still able to get me into a room, which was a pleasant surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful. This is one of my all-time favorite hotels, and I absolutely would stay here again.
