Comfortable Beds, But a Frustrating Stay Overall
Our stay in a Classic 1 Queen Bed room was disappointing. The room lacked basic amenities, such as tissues, which weren’t available anywhere in the hotel. Power outlets were scarce, with only one per bedside and limited options throughout the room. Reception was consistently understaffed, leading to long wait times regardless of the time of day. The lobby was plagued by an overpowering bleach smell that caused headaches throughout our stay.
Opening the windows wasn’t an option due to iguanas slipping in (which actually happened to us). When we needed fresh air for my sick partner, the window’s retracting mechanism was broken, and we had to wait for a repairman to fix it. Noise was another issue: our first room was above a restaurant that blasted music from 8 AM to 11 PM, and when we switched rooms, the second was directly in front of a beeping elevator. The bathroom design was also poorly thought out, with minimal space, no storage, the sink located outside the bathroom, and the toilet awkwardly positioned facing the bed behind frosted glass.
The room lacked practicality, with no rollaway for suitcases and only one chair provided. During our week-long stay, two lightbulbs stopped working, and the wifi was frustratingly slow and unreliable, often showing just two bars and speeds of 1.4 Mbps. Beach and pool towels were never available when needed, adding to our frustrations.
The only positives were the rather comfortable beds and the friendly staff, but these weren’t enough.
