Business trip
A lovely quaint hotel with a grand entrance door and old traditional lift. If you prefer fancy branded large hotels with big receptions and large lounge areas with eating on site then this is hotel is not for you. Hotel is only 5 minutes walk from the main terminal station. Hotel is about 30-40 minutes drive from the airport - the hotel does do private airport transfers BUT you must book direct with hotel. Was 60 Euros from FCO and you pay driver directly - if you want to pay by card please ensure you request this at the time of the booking. You will also need to advise the hotel of your flight times to ensure the reception desk is maned at the appropriate times. Hotel is very clean, modern and fresh. The rooms were lovely, kept very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Rooms have a/c, nice large bathroom, in-room safe available and small fridge. Breakfast is continental and served directly in your room at your chosen time. We walked every where so ensure you have comfy shoes. Hotel does provide you a map on request. If you wish to visit any of the attractions these need to be pre-booked online. Even though this was a business trip, I would definitely stay for pleasure. There is a lovely restaurant/cafe place just yards from the hotel - does home made fresh pasta. I recommend the ravioli.

Good hotel option
We stayed in the hotel for just one night (our flight was leaving from Rome early in the morning). I liked almost everything about the hotel: location, service at the front desk, rooms, a concept of not being a typical hotel, etc, and would stay here again. However, we were here in June during the heat wave and the AC just couldn’t help with the heat, as hard as it worked. It was a very hot night. Not sure that’s the problem that can be solved (maybe different location of the AC until or a newer model) but i am recommending the hotel despite this. We were leaving too early to enjoy the breakfast.

Great place, near train station
Good location, close but not too close to the train station. People were helpful, and there is an excellent trattoria a few doors down, and cheap laundry service a block away. It made for the perfect week in Rome before a week in Abruzzo.

2/10 Poor

Not at all what I had expected
This would have been my second stay at this hotel. My first one was a week prior, and it was a good stay. However, when I arrived this second time, I was notified that there had been a leak in the room in which I was supposed to stay, and they had already booked me in another hotel. I was fine with that because a leak isn't their fault. Krishia was the young woman at the front desk, and she was very helpful. She walked me to the other hotel around the corner. Without going into a ton of detail, that hotel was a dump. I was thoroughly disappointed that I was booked into something that was of such glaringly less value and comfort than what I had booked. Seriously, it was bad. I ended up leaving and going to a new hotel of my own choosing. With all of this in mind, I don't think I would book a stay here again.

Quick overnight stay
I stayed here my first night in Rome. It is reasonably close (less than 2k) to the Tiburtina bus station, out of which I was traveling the next day. The room was comfortable and clean. It felt a little stuffy at night, yet I couldn't open the balcony door because there were mosquitos. A traditional Italian breakfast is delivered to your room at your time of choosing. It was a lovely touch.

Great little place close to Rome Termini
Lovely clean rooms providing a great base to explore Rome. Alfredo and his staff extremely helpful and happily changed our room for one with a larger shower with no fuse. Continental breakfast provided fresh to your room each morning. Would benefit from having a kettle in the room to enable tea or coffee making for those like us who appreciate a cuppa 😊

lovely hotel very central
What a great find! Myself & a friend spent two nights here on a short trip to Rome. Lovely rooms & close to rail/bus station. Central to all attractions & we walked everywhere bar the Vatican where we got the metro. Loved the fact that the continental breakfast was served in your room. Staff friendly & very helpful. Highly recommend. We had a great stay.

fabulous stay
clean, spacious room (and bathroom) in quiet neighbourhood but within 5 min walking distance of train station. the picture doesn't do the room justice. a bit of hiccup during check out when we left at 10am and there wasn't anyone manning the front desk and the cleaning lady could not do credit card or provide change for us, so we struggled to scrape enough small change to pay for the 7EUR/night city tax.

Self-Service Hotel Near La Sapienza University
The hotel is walking distance from La Sapiena University. The hotel does things in the old Roman style, such as serving breakfast in the rooms and maintaining an old, decorative elevator. The main downside was that the hotel staff were almost never in the hotel (despite the information on hotels.com which indicates they are at the desk from 7am-11pm). Thus you should plan on being self-sufficient (except for breakfast) if you stay there. One other thing is that there is no airport shuttle early in the morning (also indicated by hotels.com). However, the staff will coordinate a fixed-price shuttle ride for you to the airport (assuming you can find them which was often only during breakfast).

Clean and comfortable
Residenza Castrense is situated within a lovely building about a 5 minute walk to Termini (close but not so close that it's affected by the busy station). The room was lovely and looked just like the photographs. Ample space for a mini break, and very clean. Lovely to have breakfast served to the room which meant no rushing around to get dressed straight away to go for breakfast. There's plenty of options to get around Rome - walking, trams, hop on buses, taxis. We tend to walk a lot which means for some people it may be a little out of the way for key sites. As a guide it's 20 minutes to Colosseum, 30 minutes to Spanish Steps, 40 mins to Piazza Navona and 55 mins to St Peter's. Lovely little trattoria just down from the building entrance which was perfect for a bite to eat when arriving later in to the evening. Great value for money, would consider staying again.
