The Gulai House at The Datai Langkawi specialises in authentic Malay and Indian dishes. It has several open-air dining sections that overlook the verdant rainforest, with candle-lit alcoves, organza drapes and low tables with comfortable cushions placed on hand-woven mats. 

Standout dishes include slow-braised dried beef short ribs, simmered grouper fish in spicy turmeric gravy, and free-range chicken curry. For dessert, we highly recommend dadih susu kerbau pulut hitam (buffalo milk panna cotta served with black glutinous rice). Every night, The Gulai House hosts cultural shows by local dancers dressed in vibrant indigenous costumes.

Kayuputi at The St. Regis Langkawi is an elegant restaurant that specialises in Asian-influenced haute cuisine, unique cocktails and premium wines. There’s also a bar section, where you can relax on comfortable hammocks and sunbeds hanging above the Andaman Sea. 

The food combines French cooking techniques with locally sourced ingredients, such as black bee honey, coconut, and seafood. Standouts include pomfret fish fillets steamed in kelp and Stanbroke beef tenderloin served with potato fondant, pink garlic and wild mushroom. For dessert, we highly recommend Kayuputi creme brulee or lemon pound cake. 

Planter’s at The Danna Langkawi overlooks the resort’s infinity pool and Pantai Kok Beach, featuring a classy colonial interior, excellent service, and a live pianist in the evening. This upmarket restaurant offers an extensive menu of Mediterranean, European-inspired, and Malaysian dishes. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available for those with specific dietary needs. 

Highly recommended are the falafel (with tahini yoghurt and pickled radish salad), premium Australian beef tenderloin (with chive and sour cream potato mash, green beans, mesclun, hollandaise and forest mushroom sauce), and sweet banana porridge (served with homemade coconut lime ice cream).

Set at the end of Pantai Cenang, this iconic Langkawi restaurant has an open-air indoor dining area with modern furnishings, white tablecloths, warm lighting and classy décor.

Jala Restaurant at The Andaman, a Luxury Collection Resort is an alfresco restaurant with breathtaking sea views. It's a great place to enjoy excellent Malay and western-style seafood dishes in Langkawi. The restaurant sources its fresh seafood from local fishermen on the island. 

One of its signature dishes is Jalaksa, which has king prawns and barramundi in panko, poached egg, wanton noodles and spicy laksa gravy. If you’re not a fan of spice, try the slow-cooked seabass served with baby courgette, bok choy, smoked mashed potato, broccoli couscous, and Jala’s signature sauce.

Pancakes, omelette with toast, and bacon and egg sandwiches are offered for breakfast, while chilli prawn aglio olio, beef rendang (dry curry), and Nyonya delicacies such as pongteh (braised chicken in sweet bean paste) are served for lunch and dinner. 

This all-white restaurant has a nice garden setting with lots of greenery, plants and trees, where diners can unwind and enjoy their meals with a pleasant view of La Pari Pari Resort’s outdoor swimming pool and cottage-like rooms.

Ikan-Ikan at Four Seasons Resort Langkawi offers a wide array of Thai, Chinese and Malay-style seafood cuisine. The restaurant occupies a traditional Malaysian village house, with an open-air teakwood deck that offers spectacular views of the ocean and garden. 

Expect to splurge for a meal at Ikan-Ikan, but portions are very generous. We love the stir-fried morning glory with spicy shrimp paste, slow-roasted short ribs, and Malay-spiced fried chicken with aromatic chilli-ginger vinegar sauce.

Langkawi Fish Farm Restaurant is one of Langkawi’s oldest seafood restaurants. It provides efficient service, a lively dining atmosphere, and value-for-money delicacies from the sea. The spacious indoor dining section is decorated with replicas of pirate ships and traditional lanterns hanging from the ceiling. It also has a sea deck that serves as an open-air dining space overlooking the Andaman Sea.
