A nice junior suite
Was down to see friends for a couple of nights and I stayed in a junior suite. Lovely room. I’d brought my electric toothbrush and they don’t have the charging ports in the bathroom so I went to buy a manual toothbrush too, they should probably mention they don’t have electric charging sockets in the bathrooms to avoid this - or provide manual toothbrushes.
Service was very good, Jess on reception was lovely, but I had asked for an iron to be sent up because they charge for steaming your clothes, a first I have ever heard of in any 5 star hotel (generally I stayed at Chiltern Firehouse and recently Ham Yard, Raffles at OWO, Nobu etc and no one has ever charged for this, which I found a bit of a shock and they charge 50% more if you want it on the same day- dry cleaning I understand, but steaming I expect to be a complimentary service). The first two irons didn’t work and another person bought one up that finally worked.

Cleanliness - when I looked at my shower, I found that my shower hadn’t previously been rinsed of someone’s else’s hair who had used the room before me, which isn’t the end of the world, but also not what I expect from a 5 star hotel. I wasn’t asked about my stay when checking out, only what I had from the minibar. No one asked me about the 5% optional service charge they email you about either, she just input an amount that was taken off card automatically, so unsure if I paid that and thought that was quite sly if they had added it in.
