location is good. value varies according to price - it is a good 180 hotel but not a good 300 hotel. having no public washroom in small lobby was inconvenient. staff were friendly parking seemed expensive but was convenient

Good
It was a good stay. Location is at edge of high concentration of homeless people, which made it feel unsafe. Will not go back to this hotel because of it.

Very Good
The hotel was decent and very clean. The rooms are unique and the bed was comfortable. There was free coffee in the lobby in the morning, no free breakfast. But great breakfast across the street. The building is old, but taken care of. One thing to mention is that the hotel is located in the middle of skid row, there are a lot of homeless and drug addicts around. We didn’t feel unsafe walking during the day, but at night it was very sketchy.

Fair
My wife and I had a terrible experience at the Carriage Inn. During our 5 night stay, we had to change rooms twice. Our booking was for a room with a king size bed. However, when we arrived, we were informed that there were no rooms with king size beds available. We were forced to take a room with 2 double beds instead. The next day, when a room with a king size bed became available, we had to pack all of our belongings and change rooms. After a couple of nights in this new room, I found ants crawling on the walls, tv and floor. I immediately made a complaint. The staff responded quickly and changed my room (again!!!!). They upgraded us to a room with a king size bed and fireplace (they did mention that there was no extra charge for the upgrade.....NO KIDDING!!!!!). The hotel did cancel my urban fees for a few nights, however, I feel that the compensation they gave us does not justify all of the inconvenience of having to change rooms twice in a five night stay

Really nice rooms, good cleaning service, no fridge or microwave. In a really bad area but it’s fine if you travel around in groups and not stay out late at night

Good
My hotel room was given away and actually ended up in their neighbouring property, the "Good Hotel". The hotel room was noisy, had no control over the HVAC and the bed was hard.

Homeless people are all over the place in San Francisco and the Carriage Inn is not spared the inconvenience. However, they seem to be harmless for the most part. I would take a cab or Uber home just to spare yourself a 3 block hike from Market Street at night anyway. Chances are you'll be exhausted from walking around this city of neverending beauty (with that said it has character - that's for sure). With that said, definitely get a Muni pass on your phone it is well worth it. And I don't think you're going to find anywhere better at this price point. The rooms are pretty interesting. Younger or older and more traveled and you'll be fine, but you probably don't want to bring the kids here for a family trip. Spend a little more to stay closer to the piers.

Continental breakfast is a joke - a pastry and a fruit in a brown bag. You can't choose your fruit or pastry either. It is acceptable and I would stay again if the rate was good.

Thé localisation is half way between union square and castro area and there is a smal train on markét street ...... a lot of homeless and junkies on this area ..like many places inSF but à little bit more there.... thé breakfast is inside à small bag with a muffin, granola bar and a fruit which you pick up thé front desk, coffee and juice. Good stay in general
