There is still a Fawlty Towers!
This hotel is designed for the older generation so therefore seems to be operated as a badly run care home. Very patronising. No choice over meal times, dinner or breakfast, 6.15pm and 8.30am respectively. Only had dinner at which service was abysmal, so cancelled breakfast and left after one night!

The hotel reception area has clearly been updated to a high standard, I cant speak for all the rooms as we only saw the room we booked which was awful, small & outdated decor. haphazzard attempts have been made to attempt to update the room but, these should not be let as rooms for holiday makers they are more suited to hostel accommodation. The staff at the hotel are clearly aware of their limitations and I sympathise with their roles, I was pleased I was able to cancel the booking after 1 night and booked elsewhere

Like stepping back in time but room was clean though fittings need upgrading. No hot water for ENTIRE HOTEL during stay which didn’t bother me as I swim and don’t mind. Heard many complaints from mostly elderly guests that filled hotel. The dining room reminded me of a slightly upgraded Butlins laid out regimentally, with bread rolls on each table tables tightly fitted together- staff not terribly professional but trying hard - would not book again as it’s about £110 a room and I got better at another place also with a pool for £65. Pool small but ok.

Worst hotel stay.
The most horrific stay I’ve ever had at a expensive hotel. £120 for an unsafe room with a shelf that would later collapse on my friend and burn her with scolding tea. The staff didn’t even send anyone up with first aid training they just seemed more concerned about the dirty, dusty and unsafe room. After the incident they made my friend walk downstairs still covered in tea to fill out an incident report. We told the manager we wanted to look for somewhere else because this isn’t right, he said that they wouldn’t like us to do that. They changed the bedding which was covered by tea from thier faulty shelf but unfortunately the betting had holes in it. They also didn’t replace the towel that was covered in tea too. None of the appliances including one they was soaked with tea hadn’t been tested since 2005. The shower only went extremely hot (had a warning label) or extremely cold. This was an issue with many of the rooms. The staff didn’t speak to us or check on my friend who burnt herself due to them installing a faulty shelf into a ply board wall. We were made to feel uncomfortable and mistreated. We will be taking this matter further as it was one of the worst experiences of my life, we had banging around all night also most of the walls are made of ply.
I have many photos of the state of this place and my friends leg, after complaining in the morning, over 15 people were also complaining. No refund was offered or apology.

A night away
More excuses with regards to Covid. Continental breakfast was included in our stay but they didn’t tell us on checking in was that it was served in your room in a box with no bowl no cutlery. We were told the breakfast was at 8:30 so at that precise time we went down only to find that there wasn’t a table with our room number as it happened the people on the next table heard of saying to the waiter about our continental breakfast and said that she’d had two boxes delivered to her room which was across the hall from us even though it clearly stated on the box our Room number. It had two muffins in it no croissant which continental breakfast normally includes a packet of biscuits not normally Continental a box of cornflakes and milk no spoon in the bowl and cutlery oh and also there was Jan which was nothing to put the jam on that absolutely nonsensical really. They are a hotel that has coach tours so they’re only geared up really for coach tours they’re not geared up for people just to go and stay the odd night if you’re not in a coach party
