2/10 Poor

Reception couldn't be bothered. Staircase hasn't been swept for days. Carpets threadbare, paintwork dirty, television didn't work. Asked to move to room which had working TV, receptionist couldn't be bothered. No tea making facilities, furniture old and broken. Avoid this dump.

simple and recommendable for a short city trip
I've already been to this hotel and again, everything was fine. The room, linen and towels were clean and everything worked well. It's not a luxury hotel but perfect for those who just need a simple accommodation in the centre of London. The simple furniture is perfect for solo travellers who don't have a lot of luggage and for just one or a few nights having a private bathroom is not really important. Most of all, I like the location. It's within walking distances from Bloomsbury campus of University of London, next to British Museum, 5 min walk away from next Sainsbury, Tottenham Court Rd, 10 min walking distance from Russell Square or Holborn, 15 min walking to Euston Station.

perfect for a short stay in the centre of London
As an international student I often commute to London for further education reasons, so Bloomsbury is the ideal location for a short stay. For solo travellers like me, who just need a basic accommodation without any extras, this hotel serves the purpose of my needs and I don't hesitate to book it again. I liked the house and its retro style of the furniture. Everything worked well, lavatory in the room and public telephone in the corridor. Linen and towels were clean. For a low budget this hotel offers everything you need for a short stay.

Not even good value for money
Honestly I have low standards when it comes to London cheap hotels but I would never stay here again. It was incredibly poor in terms of upkeep and dirty. The shared bathrooms were so bad that I didn't use them and walked down the road to the leisure centre and paid to use their facilities. Mould in the bathrooms, lights that barely stayed on in the rooms, brown mattresses and the carpets look like they haven't been cleaned since the 90's. Would never stay here again and if I hadn't ended up checking in so late I would've left and foudn somewhere else to stay.

Overnight stay as was going to the theatre
A cheap hotel is affordable for where the location is, but the room explains the hotel's price was ok for an overnight stay 6/10. If your budget is low, then this is perfect. It is a 10 min walk to Leicester Square, plenty of pubs and restaurants,

Work stay
The staff at the hotel are amazing, really kind and helpful. The hotel itself is absolutely awful. They could probably get away with charging £40/50 a night due to location but anything more than that I would avoid. The rooms are filthy with now facilities and clearly, due to the thick dust and multiple hanging cobwebs are never thoroughly cleaned. The bed itself was terrible, it was like sleeping on a boat, the mattress should be chucked away, it was awful, they don’t even use mattress protectors. Avoid!

Really run down, dingy hotel - I stayed one night while working in london needing a cheap room - was just about bearable for a place to sleep, but I wouldn't go back. Staff were nice but fully aware of how poor the accommodation is - they put me in the basement and had to take me down there to check I wouldn't immediately reject it. Tbh it was quiet, and I was there for literally eight hours so I took it. But aside from clean sheets everything else looked filthy and super dated and decaying. Ventilation poor, very hot. Really one to avoid IMHO

Great location
Great check in at a super location! Bed was clean and room spacious. The hotel has so much potential for an upgrade as is very dated and Un maintained in part.

Know What You're Getting (and Don't Expect Wifi)
The thing to be clear is that this is basically a boarding house. Hotels.com says some of the bathrooms are "shared." I took that to mean two rooms share a bathroom; but no, it means there are a couple toilets and showers in the middle of the hallway which all these rooms share. It's kind of nasty, and on my floor neither worked when I first arrived. Having said that, the staff were all wonderful. And when I pointed out the problem, they immediately moved me to another floor. The location is great if you want to be near the theater and Soho. The bed was fine, which given the condition of everything else was actually a really nice surprise. There's no tea or coffee provided; there's really nothing provided. (Don't believe them about the wifi. It was absolutely non-existent.) I was there four days and they never once changed the sheets or towels, which was weird, and again, kind of nasty. But again, if you're just looking for a cheap place to crash for a few days, it's fine.

Would've loved to have given a better review however, the venue was extremely basic. Service was friendly, and we were given a free upgrade to a ground floor ensuite as I was travelling with my 80 yr old father to see a show, and his mobility and eyesight is quiet poor. So that was really lovely of the lady on reception. However, we arrived from Birmingham at the venue at 2:40pm and we were told to come back in an hour as our room wasn't ready, so we weren't able to wait 20 mins to check on. Instead, we left our bags and walked over the road to grab a cuppa and came back and hour later. We were given a room at the annexe which is approx 3 buildings walk away?! Very weird set up. Got into the room, and even though it was spacious and clean, the room itself is on desperate need of a make over. Our front door looked like it had lunch holes in it, the wardrobe door was broken, furniture was lacking in comfort and looked like it had been donated for free to the venue as someone was throwing it out. The bathroom was cramped, and when sat on the loo, your knees hit the sink?! So as much as I appreciated the fact the staff had upgraded us, it still didn't feel very accessible to my elderly father. Also, our neighbours were loud and disrespectful of other guests in the hotel. Priced well and fairly for it's location, and based on it's appearance.
