The property was close to train lines and convenience stores. We walked to Nishiki Market within 10-15 minutes and there were several small shops to enjoy along the way. There’s also a small but very nice shopping center a block away with interesting shops and restaurants. Enjoyed our stay and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. Liked having their free coffee downstairs in the lobby and took advantage of their amenities drawers at check-in.

Our favorite room in our entire stay in Japan! It was spacious - definitely plenty of room for our family of three (2 adults, 1 toddler).having a washer / dryer in room was a definite plus! The staff was so welcoming - Japanese hospitality at its finest. They were so eager to help & answer all our questions - made it so easy / simple despite our language barriers. I think the hotel was so new the beds were still definitely on the more firm side! But the entire stay was cozy and the perfect place to unwind after long days of walking! Would stay again!

This was by far the best service I’ve ever experienced at any hotel. From the moment we arrived, the male attendant/manager greeted us with genuine warmth and professionalism. Our suite was spacious, beautifully designed, and perfectly maintained, making it a joy to come back to each day. Every member of staff we encountered was exceptional, but the manager’s hospitality truly made our stay unforgettable. It’s rare to find that level of sincerity and care in customer service. Without hesitation, I would stay at Hanare by Tokyo Stay again every time I visit Kyoto. It’s an absolute gem — elegant, welcoming, and a true example of Japanese hospitality at its finest.

Do not agree to take a first floor room. The one we were in had no windows and low ceilings and was like a dark cave - even with all the lights on. We had no warning about this room. The doors to the bathroom and shower room close aggressively and are right next to each other so you get trapped in corner when door slams. Open 1 door for toilet and then leave that room and open another door for sink to wash hands. It's a terrible design. The place is new but the details and amenities are low quality. They would not change our room without a massive fee even though we were not made aware that the room we booked had no real windows. It was truly awful and quite expensive for area.
