We know that Norway is a great holiday destination. We also know that it's exceptionally beautiful. But how often do you actually take the opportunity to sit behind the wheel and just drive to one of the country's many beauty spots? Not often. If you're in the West, why not head North? If you're in the North, then you should experience Sørlandet. And if you're in Østlandet, then you really have the country at your feet if you want to experience scenery that's both magnificent and highly varied.

Tourist Route on Sognefjell
Air Mountain Road with More than just Barren Scenery
- Adventure
- Photo
The highest mountain pass in Norway runs between Luster and Lom. Sognefjellet has a lot to offer when it comes to natural splendour, and the idyllic mountain peaks can seem almost trivially low once you get up high. But don't be fooled. The tourist road over Sognefjellet can be a real challenge even for experienced motorists, especially those who venture here in winter. At this time of year, expect temporary closures and column driving, so check the radio and weather reports before setting off.

Forget your phone or camera here and you'll regret it for the rest of your holiday If you remember to bring your camera (well done!), this is your chance to really make use of your zoom function. The view extends down to the village, but also far beyond the beautiful Geirangerfjord.

The Atlantic Road
More Sights per Metre than Most Museums
- Adventure
- Photo
That such a short stretch of road is able to surprise and impress people as much as it does, is really quite unique - even in Norway. But with turns and straits that can make even Salvador Dalí and Antoni Gaudí envious, that's exactly what impresses us about the Atlantic Road. Add to this some of the most windswept and extraordinary coastal landscape we have in Norway (and that's really saying something), and what you end up with is a drive that has won the praise of multiple travel guides around the world.
