rude staff - booked options not honoured
stayed here on New years eve, quite a last minute booking and we're aware it's not a 4 or 5 star hotel but basic standards of service were not being met here. Upon arriving early to check in i was told to wait - fair enough but i was frustrated to notice others were allowed to check in early while i had to wait. during the wait staff could be overheard talking about me behind my back - mocking my surname for being long and hard to pronounce. I was about to confront them when i was called to checkin. After a long journey i was glad to get into the room so i just ignored their comments. later i inquired as to the breakfast times for the following morning and was told i had to pay 10 GBP despite having booked a room that included breakfast. I tried to explain that it should be included in my room rate but they were unrelenting. Since i was going to have to pay twice for breakfast anyway, i had breakfast outside the hotel. The room itself was extremely cramped and had not been cleaned recently. it was clean, just dusty where it had been empty for some time. I also inquired about a late checkout option which was denied, even if i offered to pay extra. They forced me to check out at 11am despite the booking confirmation on hotels.com showing checkout at noon. IT would have been an OK stay if it wasn't for the rudeness of the staff and unwillingness to acknowledge my booking

Misleading double room photos. Very small room.
The hotel is well located near the Victoria Station, very handy to catch the Gatwick Express. However, we had a couple of issues during our stay: 1. The room was extremely small with a very small double bed (The majority of the hotels in Hotels.com says the size of the room. Now I know why this Best Western did not mention the size of this room in particularly). 2. The room had no WiFi connection. Some staff already knew of the issue with the internet in room 102. They offered to change room but only possible on the last night of the stay. I would be happy to change rooms but not on the second and last night of the stay. They offered free breakfast as compensation but still quite an inconvenience not to have internet connection in the room. 3. Safe in the room was not working. For the 2 nights we stayed we had to leave valuables at the reception every time we went out.
