Coylum capers 🙈
Allocated a “courtyard” room which was actually a refurbished room in the staff block and had a strong smell of dampness in the bedroom. The room was adapted for wheelchair users with an adapted bathroom. We did not book an adapted room and it reminded my friend of recent hospital stays instead of a relaxing break away. Had to pay additional £50 for hotel bedroom!

Definitely more geared to families with younger kids. Restricted opening hours for some parts of hotel facilities like the American diner. Never seen the area with climbing wall etc open at all. This was our 3rd visit there over the last 2 years and the food on offer for the evening meal was definitely not as good as it’s been in the past. Also noticed that the dirty plate in microwave used to hear baby food was never cleaned over the duration of our stay

Basic and outdated with uncomfortable bed
The hotel itself looks nice enough on the outside and in the foyer. However, our room was situated randomly through a children’s arcade, past the restaurant then down a long hallway. The room was very basic and the bed was not comfortable. It was also very small, much smaller than a standard room. The bed was also small. There was a step up into the room randomly too. It was okay for us as we only stayed one night but it would have been uncomfortable staying any longer. One of the walls had what looked like water leaking from the floor above. When we went for a drink in the bar everything seemed to be served in Guinness glasses which isn’t the end of the world but it doesn’t look great when even a Wetherspoons can get the right glass. There was a children’s clown in the bar area blowing balloon animals for children who were crying because the balloons kept popping so that was also not a nice atmosphere to sit in having a drink. Wouldn’t stay here again as it gave me the creeps. Should be a cheaper rate with what you get.

Long queues at check in. Around a half hour - 45 minute wait. Hotel messaged in the weeks before arrival to say there would be a delay at check in. Why not have more staff on?
At time of booking I made a request for accommodation suitable for a 6 month old baby.
At check in we were given a room on the first floor. There are no lifts. There was no offer of help to get to room with pram, suitcases etc. No mention there was no lift so we had to go looking for one then return to reception and skip the queues to request another room. Staff unapologetic, didnt seem to care.
We were given a room on the ground floor. It was close to noisy bar. Children playing chap door run on our door late into the evening, waking our baby and young child. Noise from bar and people outside our room smoking. Smell and noise coming into our room.
Room had rubbish in it from previous guests and lots of hairs in the bath. Room felt unclean. There was a notice to say room only gets cleaned if you stay 5 nights or more.
We had to go to reception to get towels and toilet roll.
Breakfast was okay. The coffee was terrible.
Overall would not recommend.

Great stay would come again
The hotel was great, room slightly older and could do with an update but the beds were comfortable and thats all we needed.
The bar staff in the foyer bar were brilliant and helped entertain my 6 year old with games and colouring books.
Facilities were great too and the swimming pool we enjoyed

Great location. Budget hotel (very budget).
Great location. Good for a cheap night or two when exploring the area, but very basic accommodation and facilities (arcade games in lobby, old-style cabaret singer in bar at night), but the woodshed bar/restaurant was good for a quick dinner and drink. Very handy for lovely places in the area.
