For the price there are better options

The location was great, right in the heart of Old San Juan. A few of things stood out as detractors. The bathroom had no counter and no place to hang towels. It was inconvenient to use due to this basic lack. There are a couple of long term drips in the bathroom ceiling, and one of them was right where it dripped on you as you were using the toilet. The furniture overall was is a little disrepair. The chrome was deteriorated and the veneer peeling. But the Big hassle was that the property required a picture of your credit card prior to arrival. Feels like a huge unnecessary security risk.

Would definitely stay here again!

Location was quiet, well lit and felt safe. Inside was clean and well furnished. The AC unit in the room was not cooling the first night we were there. Once I messaged the property manager their response was prompt & they repaired it quickly. Only downside was no elevator for those staying on the top floors & having to park far but you are made aware of this way ahead of time so read all the info sent to you when you make your reservation. No complaints from me, the place was amazing & the price was better than expected for the location.

Clarify what to expect on arrival

The original unit we were booked into was very tiny, bar fridge and bathroom sink in kitchenette, shower slope to far corner of bathroom so floor soaked after taking a shower. Unable to flush toilet paper due to old plumbing!!!! Pictures online looked better than real life. Very steep stairs to walk up. Beds were comfortable. The power in our building went out and our unit had no windows, pitch black with no air movement ( it was very hot/humid) loud sounds of ? Generators that sounded ready to explode at any minute. I contacted property management who brought flash lights and found us alternative accommodations 2 blocks down in a different rental unit that did have windows and power. Had to pack up in the dark and very early morning to move, with very little sleep, and very very hot/sweaty. We ended up having to cancel our car rental as originally planned for the day because of no sleep and “lost” a day of our vacation.

Wonderful location but unit needs attention

The good: first off, the location of this apartment is amazing. It is located on Fortaleza street in a part that is actually blocked off to traffic by police for the Puerto Rican White House. You have to go through barricades to get to it (no issue, everyone was polite and seemed familiar with the process). There are some really pretty lights hanging that draws tourists on the weekends. Very picturesque! The annoying: The check in process was cumbersome. I received no less than four text messages from the management company asking me to complete a web check in form after I already completed it. Lots of unnecessary back and forth to make sure that the reservation was correct and ready for us. The bad: The apartment was dirty. Lots of dust and cobwebs. The doors to the closet and bathroom in particular had layers of dust - a previous tenant had written "clean me" with their finger but no one ever did, so clearly this has been an ongoing issue. A dead roach in the corner. Some of the furniture was broken, including the seats on the dining chairs. Light bulbs burned out. All in all, I'd say the location outweighed the other issues, but FYI.

Apartment beautiful however, it was on the top floor and stairwell was very narrow. Difficult to carry large luggage. Apartment also had a washing machine but no dryer as advertised. Property in great location for Viejo San Juan activities.

The location here was amazing! Right in the middle of everything and we loved it. With location comes noise so be prepared. We had ear plugs for evwryone. This apartment is exactly as advertised.

Great Location and Communication But...

Pros: * Great location above Anita Gelato and by the hanging lights that everyone is trying to take a picture of. * Great and easy communication * Spacious and overall good matching decor. * No elevator Cons: * Pests: Found german cockroaches around the kitchen area, particularly they hide under the counter. I was nervous sleeping in some of those nights with fears of cockroaches and mosquitos. I guess this is expected though of it being in this city area and above a restaurant. * Kitchen and room is very dim in general. Not sure how one would easily cook with the low lighting. * Could use more kitchen essentials like a colander Weighing out these pros and cons, I think the price is fair at mid $100s a night for us during March. * Not allowed to even flush toilet paper down! I think due to inadequate plumbing? * Fan didn't work (with the controls by the main door). * Location may be great but not too great if you're trying to hail a taxi/Uber. I would suggest walking a few minutes out like to Plaza Colon. * Loud. Bring earplugs! * Light pollution in morning. No way to cover the windows so I hope you're not too sensitive to the light if you're trying to sleep in!

Family at Old San Juan

Perfect stay right in the middle of beautiful Viejo San Juan. Room was spacious and washer and dryer were a plus. Walking distance from everything. Parking is impossible, also weekends are loud at night.

Caution. Beware before you go.

This is a very old building, know before you go: 1.) You must carry your luggage up a flight of stairs. No elevator. No one on site to assist. Not disability accessible. Small steps throughout the apartment, easy to trip on or stub your toes. 2.) No flushing toilet paper due to old plumbing! I would not have booked, had I known. No toilet paper was provided in the bathroom on arrival. 3.) Dirty floors. Microwave was not cleaned out. 4.) Address sent to me exactly at 3:00 PM on check in day was a different street address than was provided in the email confirmation. Difficult to find. 5.) The rooms are very dark, the photos on the website are misleading to make the apartment look bright and new. At night, the light shines through the glass windows and slats, no curtains. Take it or leave it, I hope this information gives the next travelers an accurate portrayal of the reality versus expectations so you can decide if this is the right property for you before you book.

Good value with reservations

Although this property was centrally located, well stocked, clean and roomy, it provided a unique layout that could cause some problems for older folks or those with mobility issues, as well as young children. Great place for younger larger group. Climb up long flight of winding stairs with suitcases proved challenging for some in our party.

Read all the fine print. This place did not have hot water at all. It was stone cold showers for thre days until we decided to leave. They claim the description states limited hit water due to old pipes, but the first day their response was “the city needs to come check it out” second day maintenance came and pretty much made us feel like we were crazy and stated a plumber needed to check it out. Third day they said it they disclosed the issue on their website. Bottom line, I can deal with low pressure and warm water, but not river cold water. BTW the stores and homes on the same street had plenty of warm/hit water.
