Taipei is something of a shopper’s paradise, with endless markets, boutique stores, shopping districts and, of course, first-class malls. Some brands have 2 or 3 big malls scattered around the city while some of the standalone places are rated among the best in all of Asia, offering a great range of high-quality products in elegant surroundings.

This list of the best shopping malls in Taipei features a great deal of variety in terms of the price range and styles of shopping centre. While there are plenty of places which are at the very pinnacle of luxury, there are others which recreate a marketplace environment and others which are practically cities in their own right because of their sheer scale and amount of services. What they all have in common is their popularity among shopaholics visiting Taipei.

Taipei City Mall is an underground market with hundreds of shops to choose from, directly connected to Taipei Main Station through a subterranean passageway. Clothing, electronics and food stores make up the bulk of the offerings and are divided into concentrations of such places, but there are other attractions. A large amount of specialist stores makes it a good place for fans of anime, for example.

A lot of the wares are on the budget end of the cost spectrum, which is a vestige of the malls past, when it used to be Chunghwa Market. Also like a market, you will often find street musicians playing, giving the place a friendly, local environment.
