Bangkok Old Town, also known as Koh Rattanakosin, straddles the Chao Phraya River and is just north of Bangkok’s Chinatown. This is where you'll find Bangkok's most spectacular and revered historical attractions. They’re not only part of the Kingdom's rich past, but intrinsic to it, with shimmering, spire-shaped eye-candy on nearly every corner.

Important highlights in Bangkok Old Town include the regal Grand Palace, the awe-inspiring beauty of Wat Phra Kaew as well as the traditional learning centres Wat Pho and Wat Mahathat. Sanam Luang, a historic park next to the Grand Palace, is traditionally used for important Royal or Buddhist ceremonies. Rattanakosin is also home to the National Gallery, where you can learn more about Thai art and history.
