Food and dining in Yeosu famously centre around seafood offerings, especially hwae, but also extending to spicy eel, grilled fish, oysters and many other varieties of oceanic fare. At Myongshin Nakji, you can enjoy spicy octopus or, if you're really adventurous, live octopus. For a more general fresh seafood experience, head for Baekcheon Shikdang or Geumcheon Shikdang, where you'll have lots of familiar choices from which to choose.
You can even visit Hwae Town, where the streets are lined with outstanding seafood restaurants, many of them opening as early as 5:00 am. During mid-late October, this region hosts the Namdo Food Festival, which is among the most famed in all of South Korea.
