Bangkok’s outlet shopping options are definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for bargains on branded goods. Southeast Asia is well known for the factory production of clothing, which means that seconds and end-of-line designs often pass through the city. Everyone loves a discount and there are plenty on offer here.

Amarin Plaza is almost an entire shopping mall dedicated to cut-price goods and Levi’s as well as GRI stock international brands. If you’re looking for the best of Thailand, check out the Jim Thompson Factory and Pasaya. All these outlet shops offer genuine goods at a fraction of the usual price, so if you’re looking for great value in Bangkok, we recommend checking out the discount stores below.

Bangkok Fashion Outlet looks very much like all the other malls in the city, but the quality products it offers have almost unbelievable discounts of up to 90%. The outlet is part of the Central Group, one of the biggest retailers in Thailand, who have over 20 shopping malls and department stores around the country. This is their first discount outlet in central Bangkok, and it’s very easy to get to.

Located on Silom Road, the closest BTS Skytrain station is Surasak, around a 5-minute walk from the shopping centre. There are over 500 different brands here and Bangkok Fashion Outlet is a great addition to a city already known for its excellent shopping. It’s definitely a top pick for the place to bag a bargain.

Jim Thompson is famous for reviving the silk industry for the international market but if you have ever been to the small shop near his house and museum in Bangkok you may have been put off by the cost of the goods there. Thankfully, the Jim Thomspon Factory Outlet is on hand so you can take home plenty of beautiful silk goods at more affordable rates. There are 5 floors at the factory, with 3 dedicated to silk and cotton fabrics by the metre, and a floor dedicated to home furnishings like cushions, table runners and curtains.

The most popular floor is where the accessories are, where you can pick up silk toys for children, smart ties, clothing and picture frames. Getting there is easy. You need to take the BTS to Bang Chak Station and then walk out exit 5 down Sukhumvit Soi 93. The Jim Thompson Factory Outlet is around 5 minutes’ walk on the left-hand side of the street.

The Levi’s Thailand Factory Outlet is located in a rather sombre building that looks a little worse for wear on the outside and the greeting in the shop isn’t much better. But if you're looking for some heavily discounted jeans, then there are plenty available here, usually with discounts of up to 60%. The small shop is filled with goods and there’s a good range of sizes and colours – everything from stonewashed boyfriend jeans for girls to smart black straight cut jeans for gents.

Although piles of jeans are the main draw here, there’s also a good selection of shirts, tees, and even jackets if you want to attempt the double denim look. To get there, use Exit 3 from Bang Chak Sky Train Station and walk along Sukhumvit for 5 minutes until you spot the red Levi’s Factory Outlet sign.

Location: 2533 Sukhumvit Road 101/1, Bang Chak, Phra Khanong, Bangkok 10260, Thailand

Open: Monday–Friday from 10am to 4pm (closed on Saturdays and Sundays)

Amarin Plaza is a shopping mall near Chit Lom Skytrain Station and isn’t really on the tourist trail when exploring the Siam area. This is a shame as there are some pretty fabulous bargains to be had here. On the ground floor, you’ll normally find a mega sale. In the past, brands that have displayed their heavily discounted goods here include Quicksilver, Guess and Adidas.

Amarin Plaza also often hosts discount weeks for homeware, perfumes, watches and sunglasses. As well as the discount rails on the ground floor, you can also grab a bargain at some of the end-of-the-line outlet shops that you will find around the mall. Mid-range Thai fashion brand Jaspal has a discount shop here, as does Guy Laroche and Crocodile. It’s basically an air-conditioned discount dreamland.
