Overpriced and underwhelmed

Not really a 5 star hotel feeling, small wellness facilities that have to be pre booked, breakfast not included. Tired rooms.

8/10 Very good

Nice hotel but hidden extras and restrictions.

Car park was expensive off site (recommended by hotel) Wasn’t aware of restricted swimming and spa facilities when with children till after booked. Shower had a block plug hole causing the bathroom to flood. Hotel entrance looks nice and rooms are spacious.

Weekend to see Peter Kay

Spa area was left with used towels strewn around the changing rooms and pool area, plenty of staff on duty, no attempts to clear away. Breakfast was a bit chaotic, not fully explained at first sitting.

A Check-In Debacle

Two rooms were booked as singles, two rooms as doubles in May 24. When we checked in, only doubles had been allocated. Middle aged men were sharing double beds. One of the reservations couldn’t be found. This resulted in an uncomfortable conversation at the check-in desk which took almost 45 minutes to resolve. Once we got to the room, we had only been in there for around 10 minutes, and the door opened - two other guests had been allocated the same room. This is service I would expect at a Premier Inn not a hotel with the reputation of the Edwardian. Congratulations on tarnishing our weekend.

Excellent stay

Stayed on a Monday night for our wedding anniversary. We got an upgrade to the top floor and a cake and card wishing us a happy anniversary. Also booked the spa for the next day, which was lovely. Excellent stay and would highly recommend.

2/10 Poor

Underwhelming & Unsanitary

Room, specifically the bathroom, was not cleaned whatsoever. When I brought it to the attention of the hotel staff, they were passively apologetic with no solutions. I had brought photos and they didn't even care to look or resolve the issue.

Why this?

My hubby and have been coming to The Edwardian every year and usually have a wonderful time, but this visit was a bit disappointing. The bathroom caulking looked rushed and unprofessional, and the bathrobes were clearly over-worn — one even had broken belt straps. I took pics but it won't let me upload. It’s surprising to see this kind of wear and lack of attention to detail. Why it is not the end if the world, a 5-star hotel should do better.
