Bangju Church was designed by famed Korean-Japanese architect Itami Jun, inspired by Noah’s Ark. It is surrounded by a shallow pond, creating a floating effect on the water. The structure gives a different impression depending on the viewing angle and time of day. The softly-glowing lights of the church at night may make believers out of just about anyone.

Saeyeon Bridge was designed as an homage to teu, a traditional flat wooden boat unique to Jeju, and connects Seogwipo Port to Sae Island. The bridge stays lit until 10 pm. The towering Saeyeon Bridge resembles a white open sail and looks especially striking at sunset.

When the sun goes down, head over to Sae Island and take in the view of Seogwipo Port. The lights from the fishing boats and the colourful signs nearby will create incredible reflections in the dark sea.

It’s also where Tamna Cultural Festival is held every year, so it’s actually more popular with Jeju locals than tourists. There are many parks and trails along the stream so there are plenty of things to enjoy during the day.

At night, however, the lights and fountain show make Sanji Stream more glamorous. If you have the time, don’t forget to head over to Dongmun Market nearby to check out the night market.

Seonunjeong Temple in Aewol-eup is well-known for its wishing stone that supposedly tells you if your wish will be fulfilled by sound when you lift it. It’s also famous for maze-like Buddhist paths where you can stroll along and clear your mind.

The temple was built relatively recently and is decorated with lights throughout. Unlike other temples, it is more colourful and exotic at night. A visit is recommended if you’re looking for something atypical.
