It’s not exactly hard to find a tailor in Bangkok. Step off the BTS anywhere around downtown Sukhumvit or Silom and it’s only a matter of time before you’re greeted with the friendly sales hook of, “Nice shirt, my friend; where did you buy it?” There are so many that choosing the right one might seem like an impossible task, and many visitors new to the Thai capital are often put off by pushy sales techniques, inflated prices, and the fear of investing in sub-standard quality.

Even so, with years of experience in getting custom shirts and suits made by dozens of Bangkok tailors, we’ve compiled this handy little list to help you. Taking into consideration value for money, quality, design and overall customer service, here are 5 of the best tailors in Bangkok.

Despite being one of Bangkok’s most luxurious tailors and boasting previous clientele such as Snoop Dogg and actor Matt Lanter, you can still get a custom shirt made here for as little as 2,000 baht – about the same as you’d pay for an off-the-rack shirt down the road in a shopping mall.

This swanky Thong Lor spot doesn’t do things by half, either. All shirts are handmade in-house, a minimum of 20 stitches-per-inch go into each piece and there’s a huge range of fabrics available, from Egyptian cotton all the way up to Thomas Mason and even the ultra-exclusive, ultra-expensive Loro Piana.

The initial appearance of Tailor On Ten is a million miles away from your average, often shabby-looking Bangkok tailor that looks like it needs a refit itself. The tailor is located in a beautiful old Thai house and surrounded by a leafy garden at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 8.

It’s not just pretty surroundings that Tailor On Ten specialises in. There’s a huge range of fabrics imported from some of the finest mills around the world, including Holland and Sherry, Thomas Mason and Ermenegildo Zegna, to name a few. Customer service here is also some of the best we’ve ever witnessed in a Bangkok tailor. The owners have purposely kept the feel of a house and every room is used for each customer to select bespoke touches to their clothes. Shirts start from 1,700 baht and full suits start from 12,000 baht with a turnaround time of around 3-5 days.

Location: 93 Sukhumvit Soi 8, Bangkok 10110, Thailand

You could walk along Sukhumvit Road and past Rajawongse Clothier, an everyday-looking tailor, a hundred times and not even notice it’s there. But father-and-son team Jesse and Victor don’t need to rely on a flashy shop window or any marketing gimmicks to win over their customers.

Instead, nearly half a century of tailoring experience is on their side; a fact that’s clearly shown by the thousands of repeat customers they have as well as a long list of VIP clients, including international celebrities, presidents and ambassadors. Just take a look at their hall of fame at the back, as well as the changing room which is lined with dozens of business cards.
