Good hotel but small details needs to be fixed
Everything was great except the internet was not working and the breakfast receptionist was rude.

    Very Good 8.0
Very nice hotel, but walls are thin so very noisy. Sounded like the person in the next room was in the same room as us.

    Chateau Laurier Losing its Appeal
Nice property. Shocking parking cost, valet only and $50/night with no warning. Park at the Weston across the street for $30/night. Difficult to get a good night’s sleep with lots of noise from adjacent rooms. Very poor sound proofing given ‘old building’ according to Fairmont staff. Very obliging with our request to move. First time in my experience that I’ve had to do so and very disappointing given cost! I was surprised and disappointed that there was a brown stain on the carpet near the desk, an unrepaired tear on the leather chair and nothing to even stir our coffee with in the room’s coffee station?! It was a small room with a comfortable bed and a nice view but for over $300.00/night it was disappointing. Very limited clothing space, just the closet and one bedside table?! Cluttering up the limited space with things like mineral water ($9.50) a litre and snacks seems greedy and a bit vulgar to me. Checkin was unexceptional. The very nice man who served us was initially more interested in his monitor than us but after he finished what he was doing, he was charming. Unfortunately the initial impression was that we were, just another couple of patrons, interrupting his work. I was really looking forward to our stay in this iconic and well situated property. I know these observations may seem a bit petty but these are the things that distinguish the exceptional from the mediocre. All rather a shame given the Chateau Laurier’s history and price point:(

    Good 6.0
    Poor service, nice hotel
The hotel is in a great location, clean. Might need some better upkeeping but ok. However the front desk needs some training. They don’t really make eye contact while the counter was empty and I was standing in line, they were concentrated in their computer and did not even look up until I greeted them. After I had to ask for my bill and apparently their printer did not work and neither they could send an email so I had to call reservation to get it. It’s ok but you can’t do that in upscale place. Just very poor service :( I’ve travelled the world and hotels of this level have usually highly trained amaizing front stuff, unfortunately in Canada it does not exist
