Very Nice Location at Affordable Price
It is nice, clean, and beautifully located in Waterton Park. The affordable rate at a wonderful location. We love everything in this hotel. The only problem is a small maintenance issue with the shower drain which clogs, it needs a plumber or a utility guy to fix it but besides that everything was perfect!

Love the location!
Waterton Lakes Lodge was a pleasant surprise. It is more of a motel style accommodation than a "resort", but we anticipated that. The location is perfect! You can walk to the waterfront at the International Peace Park or to Cameron Falls. We walked to dinner at the pizza place right behind our cottage. Very nice place.

Could be a great place if….
This hotel is adequate but is in need of an update. The staff could use some training in being friendlier and not treating guests like they’re an inconvenience. We’re paying good money to have an enjoyable vacation and have a right to expect good customer service and to feel welcome. The buildings are starting to look dilapidated. The room was clean, but the entrance to our building was filling up with leaves and none of the staff lifted a finger to clean up the leaves that were being crushed and tracked into the common area. The room did not contain any cups suitable for use with the coffee maker, so we ended up using the plastic cups from the bathroom. The tv service is slow, troublesome and largely useless. It would be nice to have smart tvs so that we could connect our own devices to it and stream from our phones. You have to use your own phone to contact the front desk if you need anything. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced for the area. I would dine here again even if I wasn’t staying at the hotel. The wait staff needs to improve their customer service skills. Being short staffed is no excuse for being snippy. A certain amount of grace under pressure is required to make the experience enjoyable for the guests. The location of the hotel is perfect, the beds are super comfortable and the shower was excellent. But it’s time to reinvest in the place and make it nicer.

No electric plugs in bathroom. You had to unplug the microwave that is in the bathroom to use the blow dryer or shavers etc. Toilet was like 12" off the floor (my husband is 6'5"and in our 70's it was not conducive). We had to duct to keep from hitting our heads on the beams that slants down in the room. The steep stairs going up to the room was difficult to carry luggage. The town of Waterton is beautiful and we loved the scenic cruise, beautiful trails and waterfalls. Restaurants that were still open were expensive but food was good. The public washrooms were weird. I didn't feel safe being in locked stalls with both men and women in the same bathroom at the same time. I should have requested a bottom floor. Maybe the hotel had better rooms than the one we received? I would return to the beautiful town if Waterton but probably at a different hotel or request our needs better.

Liked the location. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, tourist info centre and the lake. I liked that our room was named after a bird we discovered at Cameron Falls - the American Dipper. The carved bedhead was unique. But the bed was squeaky to get in. The entire place seemed old, although it was clean. There was a coffee maker but I drink tea. I needed to buy a china cup to heat water in the microwave.

Only downside to this comfortable, centrally located property was the fact that a tour bus was parked right outside my window and started idling its engine first thing. I didn’t use any of the amenities so can’t comment on that aspect. Staff were friendly and efficient at check in and check out.

We had a ground floor room with a jacuzzi bath that we did not try but it looked clean. The resort was walkable with a good selection of shops and eating places , would recommend the fish taco’s at the Thirsty Bear

Property seems a bit dated. The rooms were OK. There was q terrible smell when we checked in - not sure if it was the remains of dinner, but we were grateful the rooms did not have that smell. The beds were extremely soft - mattresses could use an update. We knew we were paying for location and from that standpoint, it met expectations.

My main complaint about this lodge is the maintenance of the room we were in. The carpet had large stains, beds were reasonably comfortable but slightly bowed, toilet seat was wobbly and the sink in the bathroom had no stopper- just a hole, so you need to be careful not to drop anything down. The reception staff however were very helpful. We needed help getting the TV back online and someone came almost immediately. Another quickly helped us to get into the recreation facility when the door code didn’t work. Dining room staff were friendly and efficient and the food was good.
