Handy for the city

Excellent location. Breakfast would have been nice, but the room was freshly refurbished, and very comfortable.

Convenient and friendly

Greta location, 10-15 mins walk into the city centre. Very warm welcome from the chap at the hotel. Couldn’t do enough for us. Room was spotless, tea and coffee facilities. Hotels.com advertise a free breakfast but they don’t do this anymore. Not an issue for us but could probably be updated. Slight noise from other rooms and the street but the hotel provide earplugs and the windows have an extra screen to try and keep noise out. If street noise really bothers you, don’t book a hotel on a main road. Would stay here again 100%. Thank you to the team!

A great find.

A nice little hotel, close to the centre and restaurants. We only booked one night so we could meet with friends in the city, but will definitely stay here again when visiting York in the future.

8/10 Very good

Walm welcome from the owners. My small single room was at the very top and my case was carried up for me and down at the end of the stay. A kitchen was available to make drinks and warm up food. That was good. The room was very small but clean and the bed was comfortable. The property was well positioned with easy access to York centre. I enjoyed my stay.

2/10 Poor

In desperate need of refurbishment. Room wasn’t clean enough, there were cobwebs in the room and mould in the bathroom. Mattress wasn’t that comfortable and very springy, it needed to be thrown out. I was given the impression that breakfast was served from website and when I booked it. New owners need to take this off website. I know that you get what you pay for but I would expect room to be cleaned to a certain standard and a mattress which is not like a bed of nails. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Nice guest house in good area for the city

Lovely little guest house, parking costs £5 as it is on street parking with permit, receptionist does it for you online. Friendly welcome, we booked a twin with own bathroom, (rm2) got upgraded to room 1 with onsuite. Really glad we did as rm 2's bathroom.was across the hall from.bedroom, opened by its own key! Our room Had everything we needed, hairdryer, iron and board, tv. Kettle, tea and coffees, we would stay here again as very close to town and nice guest house. 2 small down sides are our room was above owners accommodation so could hear washing machine , phonecalls. But i was baffled by the illuminated emergency fire exit sign was on the inside of our room. Above our only exit so room brightly lite all night, mentioned it this morning to reception. No breakfast option offered as read previously it did a fab breakfast but plenty of places to eat nearby

2/10 Poor

We had to leave the property after the first night and relocate as the room was full of Mould and no better/suitable rooms available I was refunded easily enough but our room should not have been let in the first instance in this condition, it was grim.

8/10 Very good

Location was excellent, 15 minute walk from train station and 15 minute walk to the city centre. A bit of traffic noise from the road from our room. Moors was excellent, friendly and helpful. Perhaps the room doors and wardrobe doors can do with some oiling as they squeaked a lot!

6/10 Good

Okay for a cheap stay if you're happy to get what you pay for. It's an old building, so if you're over 5ft 9, it's hard to move without headbutting a lampshade or banging your legs on a cupboard.
