I arrived 45 minutes before check-in time but the front clerk didn't have a problem with giving me my room early. You don't usually find this level of common sense in most hotels. I mean, if the room is ready why do other hotels want to charge you for an early check-in?? I appreciated it as I was tired, hungry, and just needed to relax. I was very appreciative of this gesture.
Next, after settling into my room and while I was getting prepared to go over to the White Spot that is connected to the Clarion (you get 10% as a hotel patron) I get a phone call from the front desk asking if everything was okay and if I needed anything!! That was unprecedented. I have stayed in nice hotels around the world and had never received a call like that. Very impressive.
For the money that I paid through a 3-party company (Expedia) I have to say that I got more than my money's worth. It was clean, quiet, filled with a microwave, fridge, Keurig coffeemaker and 4 samples of coffee. The only thing missing was actual cream for the coffee but you can get that easily around the corner at the CO-OP Food Store.
The bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, I got to use the hot tub, there are two elevators in this hotel; and, if you don't feel like dragging your laptop around, you can use one in their little office centre on the 4th floor.
I will definitely book at the Clarion if I ever need to return to Abbotsford.
