A pity the hotel is closing
Tidy, clean rooms, close to Chalk Farm tube station, handy for Camden markets. Just a pity that the hotel closed for business the day we checked out.

Room small but spotlessly clean. Has all you need for your stay. Staff pleasant and always happy to help. Nice cafe joining the hotel does a awesome breakfast. Not to close to Camden market but also not to far to walk either. We had a great weekend Thank you

Nice little hotel :)
Stayed here for a concert at the electric ballroom, simple hotel but nice - the woman on reception was a great help especially when we left our key in our room, definitely would recommend if your staying for an overnight stay and aren't wanting to stay in £200 per night hotel in the area

Great location, basic room
I chose the hotel for the location and the price. My single room was small, but clean. The bathroom was tiny, mainly because the shower was decent sized and the sink had to be crammed into the corner. There is no dresser, only a few drawers in the desk. There is a rod on the wall with hangers next to the desk for hanging clothes. They have irons and ironing boards down at the reception. The bed was less than ideal, but I slept on top of the duvet so it was fine. I didn't use the TV. The electric kettle was nice, but there was water already in it and looked like it had been there for a while. But with a few boils with fresh water all was good. The shower was an adventure. There was plenty of water pressure, but the temperature was all over hte place. It would could vary from hot to cold within 20 seconds, but would usually stay within a comfortable, though shifting, temperature range. Wifi coverage was good. The speed was decent, not overly quick, but I've had worse at much more expensive hotels, so I was quite happy with it. Breakfast at the attached cafe was good. It was included with my room, but not expensive it your room doesn't have it included. I would stay here again. Don't expect luxury. It was basic and that was fine with me since I spent most of my time out of the room.

Helpful staff - more maintenance required.....Good
The staff were very friendly and helpful! The thermostat on my radiator wasn't working, so the heating was on full blast! I opened the window and dealt with it that way, but it was quite noisy. the fan in the bathroom needed an overhaul, it made a VERY loud noise when I turned it on so I couldn't use the bathroom light......

Inexpensive place to stay while exploring London
We were looking for an inexpensive place to stay in London, particularly near Camden, and this fit the bill perfectly. There's lots to see and do in the area, and it's across the street from the Underground - all very convenient! The hotel itself is small, only a dozen rooms, which meant that the front desk staff got to know us. There is also a little cafe on the ground floor for breakfast in the morning, or coffee later in the day. The room was a little cramped for two people and several days' worth of luggage. Of course, there was so much to do in the area that we didn't spend much time in the room. The shower was also a bit cramped. But the bathroom was nicely updated. And everything was clean. Aside from the size of the room (which, given London, was not all that surprising), there were only two downsides. The first was that the hotel faces a popular pub. Usually, this wasn't too much of a problem, but occasionally the street noise got loud. The other problem was that we were there during an unusually warm September, and the room got a little hot. There was no good way to cool it, short of opening the windows, which is when that street noise became really apparent. But, the weather was just weird while we were there; it shouldn't be a problem most of the time. All in all, it was a nice play to stay. No, it's not a luxury hotel in London. But for the price, it was perfect.

Hotel would be great, nice breakfast but noisy
Room was fine and nice breakfast but too noisy outside. Near a busy corner with a pub and hotels and had people coming back late who seemed to be making lots of noise for quite a while, also linen lorry outside the hotel doing a delivery that made a a racket for about 20-30 minutes. Effected sleep while staying away because of work. Pity, I assume rooms at the back and not facing the street would have been much better, I would have hoped the staff would have had a word about the delivery, seemed to be for a hotel over the road and the noise from the trolley was a nightmare.

Cheap and good location
It is very easy to get around London and do some sightseeing from this hotel. That being said, I wouldn't stay here again. I'd rather spend more money for a higher quality experience.

Very convenient, Clean Hotel with helpful staff
Great value hotel, clean and right at the Chalk Farm Tube stop. Access only by stairs so not suitable for anyone with a problem with this.. you could however try for first floor - I would assume this might mean extra street noise. Mattresses could do with an upgrade to help with the comfort factor, hotel undergoing some renovations while I was there so maybe this is on the list. Overall for the cost, great - for London accommodation and staff could not have been more helpful

Ear plugs
I wish I'd taken notice of previous reviews about noise. Zero sound proofing between noisy couple who kept me awake until 3am then started arguing at 6.45am. At one point I was convinced they were actually using my bathroom as the noise from the extractor fan was so loud. Did I mention they had 3 showers ? . Room was ok and clean for the money. Great location . On paper it's a great price but not if you have squeaking bed springs until the small hours. Bring ear plugs just in case. I don't think I'll go again. Sorry

Lovely hotel and staff just slightly uncomfortable
The hotel is great value for money and in a great location. I was very pleased with the modern décor and great condition of the room given the price of my stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly, being 24-hours and offering to keep luggage the next day after I checked out. The only things I was disappointed in was how hot the room got as the windows barely opened and how thin the walls were which meant I had a bad sleep as I could hear people outside and in the other rooms. Other than that it was overall a good stay.

Near to Camden market
We arrived at reception and they needed my name, address, telephone number, e mail then further ID of driving licence or passport plus filling in a form with your date of birth!! I am British born and bred and only needed a room for a couple of nights!! I know this is standard for every hotel but wow!? The hotel was near to Camden shopping area, beds were clean, tea and coffee provided, small rail sticking out of the wall for the wardrobe. Bathroom clean. Pub across the road so it was noisy with people shouting and talking plus you could hear the traffic on the main road. Only saw the receptionist and she was very nice, helpful and polite.

Good location for Camden Market
We were in London to go to the cricket at Lords, and found this Hotel ideal for us. Nothing flashy, but nice clean room and what appeared to be a recently refurbished en suite with lovely shower. Just across the road from Chalk Farm tube, a short walk to Camden Market and a bus ride from Lords. Ideal!

Camden Lock Hotel Review
LOVED the staff of the Camden Lock Hotel and loved the location. If the weather wasn't so hot and humid these negatives might not apply but the lack of Air Conditioning and the LOUD street noise and next door pub noise were almost unbearable. Because of the lack of AC we were forced to leave the window and shades open which of course lead to lack of privacy, lack of a solid nights sleep (due to the next door pub noise and street noise) and more than a bit of frustration. We also were forced to switch our room on the first day due to a plumbing issue but the manager gave us a bigger room and two days of free meals from the downstairs cafe which offset this a bit. However the AC and noise levels would probably prevent us from ever staying here again. It is a shame because the staff were so friendly and helpful but these are big issues in our opinion.
