Hanoi is my favourite city in Vietnam. It is beautiful, walkable and friendly. Watch scam taxi drivers at stations and airports... Grab Taxis is the safest, and cheapest method of transport here, download the app at home and set up the payment option

Such a different kind of place from west coast California! The Vietnamese culture is vibrant, people are wonderful and very friendly. It is safe walking in the Old Quarter. A good way to see it the first time is to take a cyclo tour.

A fascinating city. Get ready for motorcycles and smog that accompanies them. One prays for rain and willingly walks in it. Good food abounds! Access to national venues also pretty easy: only 2 hours from Ninh Binh or Ha Long Bay.

Get ready for an intense experience walking around this city but don't fear it. Street food and coffee shops everywhere. Museums and temples add interest. A rich experience overall.

Hanoi is frenetic, noisy and rather polluted, but it is overloaded with charming and restful cafes, and the old quarter where I stayed is a photographer's dream.

Hanoi is a great city with lots of charm, but the air pollution can be pretty extreme at times. It is a good idea to keep a mask on hand, just in case.

"I had an amazing time at this hotel. I would like to especially think Susan and Daria for making her stay so special. The hotel was in a perfect location, had a great amenities, and delicious food. I will be staying here again the next time that I visit Hanoi. "
"I view this hotel as a Beautiful Boutique Hotel that is in a wonderful location. I have stayed here before and I will stay here again!!! They are in the process of making some renovations, that are only going to enhance my future visits!!!! I checked in late, which was handled well. I like everything about this hotel, but the thing I like the most is the STAFF - everyone always willing to help and they do it with a SMILE!!!!! I will be returning to this hotel in a couple weeks before I return to America. This is a hidden GEM!!!!!"
"Hotel was great! Oasis in the middle of a very bustling, crazy and tough city! Room was great, pool was good. But all in the city so everything was a bit small (I'm 6"4 and was with my family...maybe we were too big : )... Really liked Sophie, she saw to all of our needs, but all of the staff were great and keen to help!"
" My family's 3 night stay at Royal Palace hotel was just about perfect. We had two rooms -- one for my wife and me and the other for our two adult daughters. The hotel provided a complimentary upgrade for our girls so they could be on the same floor as us --- very nice! Our Royal suite was extremely spacious, quiet and comfortable. Hotel staff was welcoming and friendly, included breakfast was excellent. Perfect location, too, just a couple blocks from Hoan Kiem Lake, the water puppet theater, and the heart of the Old Quarter. Highly recommend!

"What a lovely hotel. Very well set out and clean. The staff have all been amazing; welcoming, professional and knowledgeable. Whatever you need they will accommodate. The rooms are light filled and spacious. Had such a great nights sleep, with wonderful blockout blinds. The bathrooms are well laid out with plenty of storage.
Tracy (the front office manager) went above and beyond. We were very impressed. You can see why the hotel runs so well. Front of house staff Yen was so lovely and helpful. This is a fantastic hotel, we will be back to stay again. "
